what are we thinking about him bros? Discovered him after I was 30 but his 'newer' stuff is absolutely mesmerizing to me.
For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTv0lxfDIYI makes me absurdly happy.
Or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJvgrWLaDnc
I dont even know what this shit is called but it literally touches my soul to listen to it on my headphones in the dark.

I like Nick but I'm more into his older stuff from the 80s
>>
I like his work on film soundtracks.

It not like I dislike his older stuff but its not what keeps me coming back.

Never much looked into that actually, although I only got to know his music because one of his songs was used in an aussie film, dont remember the title. was about the oil drum murders or something I believe, been a while ...

What is that, ambient with gospel vocals?

Conversion is an outlier in my opinion, I have no idea how to classify his music style, its wild and weird in general.
He does love his gospel though, especially on his newer records

never really got into his older work, just didn't click for me, but i love skeleton tree, and wild god was on my aoty list in 2024. they're not necessarily envelope pushing or anything, just very well written and crafted and performed. (ghosteen didn't click for me either but i should probably give it another chance, only listened once)

you really should. I jumped into this without any background and instantly fell in love with it; when you look up what inspired him for this shit it gives the whole thing another dimension ...
to be fair Im usually a metalhead, but I love his works, especially the newer stuff in a special way.
If Im drunk or high it becomes truly transcendend. close to overloading my pleasure centres, but I suspect Im highly autistic for music stuff. Cant count the times I listened and started over my favourites songs of his newer stuff ...
one of them did. It might even have had a slight influence on his music ... like calling the album and several songs a reference to ghosteen ... ?

His run of Henry's dream, the good son, let love in, and murder ballads is probably the best sequence of albums in music history.

the kid who died before Ghosteen was accidental, he took acid and fell off a cliff
it was his first born schizo son who offed himself in the most Nick Cavian possible, dead after most likely ODing in a half star motel after he has been released from jail for beating his mum
>>
>>130955413
His 80's and Early 90s stuff is unmatched, Especially post-punk stuff with Rowland Howard
