I still dare to dream even though my worst heartbreak (and I've had plenty) was my band breaking up nearly a decade ago.
>>130977471When I realized I could get famous playing clone hero on youtube instead.
>>130977471I met enough music fans to realize i dont belong in that crowd, best i can hope for is to carve a niche for myself
>>130977471Of course id like to be famous but regardless i just love creating worlds and stories through music. No point in doing it if not being famous would ruin it for you, so this "blackpill" is really just a soulless jew filter.
I didn't want to become famous or ultra rich, just be successful enough to have an ok life from playing music where I would get to play live shows a lot.I gave it one last shot when I was 36 in 2023. Some guys I know in Japan were doing an album release tour so I sent them an audition video where I played two of their songs. I made the video so it simulated a live setting, so I had my full stereo live rig going, the two songs running in Pro Tools with gap between them to simulate a gap in the show where I did a very fast guitar swap. They said they weren't interested in having guitars in the tour though, but were flattered by how much work I had put into it. So it was at least a nice "no thanks" which I'm happy to have gotten. We're still friends.I hate not getting a reply. I've met so many people over the years where you talk and jam really well together. You agree to meet up later to try and work on some music together or something like that and then you just hear nothing.Just fucking say you're not interested anyway or something. It's so fucking frustrating when they act like everything's cool and you're totally vibing and then nothing. You're just left on "Read". That really fucked me up. So many fucking rejections like that. I just really really really fucking hate when people do that.I don't care about being famous, I would gladly stand in the back of the stage with black clothes on with no spotlights on me if I could get to just play live music with the people I hoped I could play with. But I was never good enough and I was always too rocking for the smooth crowd and too smooth for the rockers. So many fucking years down the fucking drain.
>>130977471Never waned to be famous. I always thought of music as just a fun hobby. I've always wanted to grow my ambitions, earn more money to buy more instruments and gear, but never really set the goal of making money off it or treating it as my main job.
A long time ago. I've fully embraced music as purely a means of self expression and the intense loneliness that comes with that. The more true you are to yourself, the more idiosyncratic your music becomes, the further you become from other people. But sometimes someone understands, just a little, and it is a level of connection you probably can't achieve in any other way.
>>130977471I don't think I've ever wanted to be a famous musician.

>>130978259>So many fucking years down the fucking drain. That's what the drain is for though anon
