What is your favorite Nine Inch Nails album, and why?

I am not a big fan and never listened to an entire album, but I love, LOVE this song from the movie OST https://youtu.be/jQ0KAtBcISE

I find it funny how many of the movie songs NIN did aren't on any of the main album releases, though that one is an exception since it wasn't actually made for that movie. Also, the biggest exception is probably "Into the Void" off the same album which even mentions "The Final Destination" in the lyrics.

I would say Pretty Hate Machine is my favourite but if you base it on play count it's With Teeth, which probably has 3x the plays as PHM

I didn't even know Deep existed till youtube recommended it to me recently. It's pretty good or maybe i'm just desperate for new music. The music video is fun aswell.

But why?

Because back in 1976 I met an angel in a deserted cornfield who told me that one day I will listen to an album called "The Fragile" and it will be by favorite album by that artist.
>>
Tfw you're not in the dimension where the band is called "Nine Inch Males"

The Fragile. not quite as noisy and edgy as broken or TDS, not quite as funky as PHM, but like a good mixture of all three aspects, with some more poetic lyrics (keyword "some"). a bit bloated and overlong, but flows really well until the last third.

Here's where I disagree, because the thing the discs aren't "disc 1 and disc 2" they're "left and right." As far as I'm concerned that means right to left is a perfectly valid listening order, and going in that order "The Way Out is Through" sets up the tone and theme of the album, "Into the Void" (A movie track that may draw your attention to play the right disc first if you want to hear the song from the movie) foreshadows La Mer, and most importantly "Ripe With Decay" feels like an appropriate set-up for "Somewhat Damaged" rather than having that be the opener, leaving "The Great Below" as the final song that brings everything full circle.

absolutely no idea what you're on about m8, it's 3 LPs with sides clearly marked A, B, C, D, E and F and a booklet packed in there with them entitled "Sequencing The Fragile" with an essay all about Trent's and Bob Ezrin's struggle to nail down the correct final tracklist.

... just meme-ing of course, mostly on the man himself, his "vinyl mission statement" and the way he used to shittalk CD releases being throwaway plastic compared to real records etc. it's not the first time I've heard people preferring to start with the "right", but never actually went to check out how the flow feels from Ripe to SD, so thanks for the tip, anon. and yeah, The Great Below is defo a beautiful closer, defo a stronger ending.
