There's also the guy from Burzum, there's also all the lore surrounding killings and church burnings, there's the raspy vocals and evil riffs and shit... but the prod is way better, the writing more solid, it's a masterclass.Burzum is now a meme, it has the kind of merch you wear in porn to signal you're a degen but not a real metalhead. I'd say 9 out of 10 metalheads into black metal end up giving up Burzum once they find shinyer more quality black metal.Filosofem though: that's an experience of a millenium. The only Burzum album worth including in anyone's discog. That's Varg's magnum opus on top of being the album he recorded and released right when he was in the middle of burning churches and killing his buddy, then got busted for it. I don't remember the exact timeline but Filosofem is when Burzum went from influential side-project to legendary act, both for musical and historical reasons.

The mid-range focus and slower chord progressions make it enjoyable to listen to in a way almost everything else in the genre is not, at least as an outsider. And his ambient work is amazing
