Did the last decade of political correctness kill music?
>>
the obama years killed a lot of things, rock music, the concept of being a rock star, comedy movies, romance movies.
Hard to be cool and counter culture when every corporation, politician, and academia support the same libtarded ideas as you.
Hard to create art in an environment obsessed with identity politics to the point it actively excludes white men and men in general
Hard to have music with sex and drugs when both the right and left are stick up the ass moral police, whether they be woke libtards or evangelical right wingers

not only the evangelicals but also the incel chuds are now prude because sexual frustration is painful, it's nigger-tier, and the porn business is jewish. so even the most "dangerous" demographic has given up.

it's hard to do it at a corporate level and get corporate media exposure. people want the money that comes with the exposure, sure i get that, but plenty of people are creating art and music and doing so without the exposure and not even having to deal with the naysayers that come with media exposure. every city with a major art school has been constantly producing music scenes with art school fags and the scene renews every few years. the morality police aren't at 200 pax venues on a thursday night.
corporate media has de-risked, yes. it doesn't mean that real world experience is the same.

My guess is this person was born in 2005 and was a young child when "I Knew You Were Trouble" was being hammered into your eardrums for months so he doesn't remember.

That list is utterly fucking irredeemable from the top down until it gets to Lorde. I don't know how she managed to record such an understated and timeless distillation of youth during that era. Pure Heroine shouldn't have been possible.

royals is a song that is explicitly about how poorly the 2013 billboard top 100 is going to age. it's very funny that the common critique of her at the time was "what does this brat know about anything, i can't stand her attitude"
>>
>>131048581
social media is trying to kill music.
imagine if Major League Baseball expanded into 300 smaller cities and they all had big league stadiums and played seasons and so on, and every game was part of the official record book and treated as legit.

These are all extremely vain complaints though.

Then how do you explain all the people I see at shows in my town of maybe 200,000 people? These folk sure as hell ain't coming in from out if town fornthis shit.
>>
>>131053060
let me guess, the median age is 30+
>>
>>131053142
Who cares what age somebody in the audience is? Music is for everyone. Its so fucking gay how obsessed music fans are about age. You literally wont see this complaint about any other artistic medium
>>
>>131053992
it matters because the same people doing the same shit they were doing 20 years ago is not indicative of a healthy music scene.
