Can rock music make a comeback?
Aside from the superficial lyrics, it mogs the absolute slop that is modern country which seems to take the spotlight now.
>>
>>131053596
Play a $3500 acoustic in a room built to amplify acoustic guitar sounds and you'll never want to leave
>>
>>131053649
America is in the process of transitioning to a non-white country, and it's dominant forms of pop music will be rap and Espanol which reflects who is living here. I see this question asked over and over again if Rock or metal will make a comeback, and the answer is no unless white people make a comeback. For example during the 1960s the US was about 90% White. That explains why there were dozens of iconic Rock bands created in a 1960s, and why they're virtually none today.
>>
>>131053657
How do you build such a room?
>>
>>131053649
idk how you could even call that country but rock has been done to death. honestly, the guitar solo has fallen out of fashion and most guitar-centric music is not doing well.

America will be remigrating a lot of browns in the coming years. Country (which you already see now) and rock will reign supreme again. England will do the same and you will see the british copy us once again and pump out some quality bands as well.

Damn nigga you move quick. You buy new or used? You also need a tubescreamer or sd-1 to boost and tighten up the low end on those. I think the Maxon od808 is sounds best but any tubescreamer or a Boss SD-1 will do the trick.

I bought new from Sweetwater. I looked everywhere for a used one in my area and nothing came up. Id imagine used outside of my area and shipping charges would make it less worth buying used.

I have a DBA Plumes already and an OCD. Either of those you think will work for the time being?

I needed to redeem myself after the Fender Cyclone disaster.
>>
>>131053802
I thought they were good amps but you’re telling me the lows sound like shit?
>>
>>131053843
Yeah the plumes will work well. Those v30s need a ton of time to properly break in. Luckily they are the mesa 8 ohm version and don't have nearly the pre-break in harshness the regular v30s have. If you have a looper pedal just run that and turn the cab on its face and let it run. Once they hit 20-30 hours they start sounding real good and they hit their sweet spot around 200 hours or so.

how much do you actually have to play to get the kind of natural wear of the guitars used by famous people like eric clapton or rory gallagher? Like Rory's strat had the finish completely worn off the neck and eric clapton's strat had the fingerboard like worn down on the lower frets. I had a guitar I used every day for like 3 or 4 years for 45 minutes to an hour and never had anywhere near that level of wear.

Hey all, looking to reduce the neckdive on my BC Rich Stealth. Will swapping out to lighter locking tuners help? What are the lightest ones I can buy that are still good? It came with Grover Mini Locking Rotomatic tuners 18:1 ratio. I think the set weighs 7.2oz. Anything else I can do, short of moving the strap locations? I tried wheel weights on the longer bottom horn and it helped, but damn it required a lot of them.
>>
>>131053950
not that much. the turd stains you see on the fretboard is actually because they don’t clean their guitars. if you notice it is never under the string only to the sides where your gunk accumulates.
>>
>>131053982
you can try a 3 inch wide strap
>>
>>131053982
a trick boomers used to do which ive found salient is putting fishing weights in the control cavity to try and pull the neck further back

there is something deeply wrong with a lot of people here. Well, it's been a fun few weeks coming back to guitar after having to drop it for a decade. Able to do a surprising amount after just a few weeks of practice. Gear is starting to come together already, currently looking for a suitable 4x12 or 2x12.

Already have a wide af strap.

>>131054007
Thats what I did, but it just required so many that it just made it too heavy overall. Id rather deal with the neckdive than the amount of weight it required to counterbalance. So far, looping my strap across the big horn helped alot, even without the weights.

Side note, that LTD has perfect balance. Like stays in classical position while standing without propping it up with my leg or even touching it with my hands. I do like the thicker neck of the stealth though.

Anon, do you really think a couple of grams is going to make all that much difference? I'm not being a dick, but you bought a spiky instrument with very non-ergonomic weight distribution and it's behaving like it. Practice stood up, keep your hand on the neck and you won't be suffering with neckdive all that much.

You're not coming off like a dick. It honestly might help, considering its weight all the way at the tip which acts kinda like a fulcrum, but maybe not. I'd like to try at least, if possible. Worst case scenario, I may even be able to return the tuners. I do practice standing exclusively fwiw. I only really feel the neckdive when I try to move my hand up and down the fretboard, but it is noticeable. I think it really has to do with having a relatively thick neck and super light body.

For maple fretboards, it's because they're using a "vintage" (pre-polyeurethane), laquer-finished neck. It was the first finish Leo used on Stratocasters and because lacquer is soft, it wore off fairly readily. There's a famous anecdote of Leo watching some 50s band on the Ed Sullivan Show or similar and noticing how the fingerboards looked on his finished necks and cringing over how awful this was for PR because his guitars with his name on the headstock were all dingy. He immediately set about changing the finish from laquer to poly-u and now it's no longer an issue.

It has nothing to do with how much you play it: you will never wear down poly-u in your lifetime other than making it go from bright & shiny to kind of less gleamy.
>>
>>131054868
Thank you. I bench like once a week and do pullups twice a week. I've been lifting for a while, so I'm solidly in the "maintain muscle mass with less effort" camp now rather than actively trying to get bigger. I'm actually dieting back down for my next trip to japan in october. I'll be looking for a red ironbird NJ series like Trey Azagthoth's.

>>131054832
Woah, I wasnt expecting it to be like 200 bucks. May have to look on amazon if they have it an return scam them by sending the old strap back lol. Maybe I'll pay for it, but I just had to pay 400 bucks for a new michelin sport tire zr tire that popped on me today. Fucking bullshit.

And yeah I love EW and stoner doom. Not what I love playing most, which is death metal. Atm Im grinding the opening riff to Spheres of Madness and The Killchain. I can play like 2 bars at 90% temp accurately now lol, but they seem like good training exercises.

Yeah I figured this would be a good way to get my rythym chops up. Especially using palm muted riffs, so the distortion doesn't cover up my actual timing. The groovy rythym and how they throw in chords in between chugs really helps to lock in. Metronome practice is relatively new to me though. I did it a bit my first month or two and shelved it until now.

Anyone else struggle with actually *writing* music? Whole functioning songs? no, i mean sometimes I'm not feeling particularly inspired i guess, but it's very easy to make sounds that go with other sounds
maybe you're overthinking it? or, maybe you should think more structurally?
honestly, my best ideas aren't planned out methodically though, i just kind of hear it in my head and then work it out on my instrument
i think songwriting is like anything, it takes practice. a lot of people try so hard to make their first song ever a masterpiece, that they think they can't do it. just keep going, write the awkward beginner songwriter songs, and you will get better

well, just keep experimenting honestly. your curiosity is the best inspiration. but personally, the way I got my head round this stuff was from playing chord melody arrangements of jazz tunes, a lot of the ways you can get away with making fruity chord substitutions that still work are by deliberately changing the musical context.

like for example, if you reduce the song to just a melody and a bass note (that you're playing both at the same time on one guitar) then it still kinda implies the whole chord sequence. but then you can like, deliberately add a couple notes in-between that makes the same notes get reinterpreted as something else, does that make sense? Tritone substitutions are the most obvious example but there are loads of ways to do it. Augmented chords are a great way of doing it, because for example the notes of Caug, Abaug and Eaug are all the same. they tend to work anywhere you would have had a functional dominant, esp in a minor key

Just play a lot and don't worry about it. Gold coming off the tailpiece, pick scratching above the strings and on the pickguard are the first. Frets will wear in, body will lose finish at the contour if your arm hits it, buckle rash, checking anywhere you accidentally bump something, finishes and colors change over time even if you don't notice it.

blame society, that my brain is fried
wanna smoke it away, no satan not today
make it go away, i'm in the endless grey
wanna float away, I'm in outer space

(chorus)
fuck you and your habits and this stupid world that grew it
I don't care how you use it with this pleasure I abuse it
Blame society, you are Satan's greatest serpent
Everythings the same, I don't know anything

Back to basics I'm so dumb and I'm left feeling numb
I'd do anything, to get it out my brain
I must be cursed, this is all I've got
I'd do anything, just to fill the void

Chorus again 2x

towards the end I forgot the chorus and just started improvising kek

Yeah, noted. Both heads have 4, 8, and 16 ohm options so I should be able to swap out as long as I pay attention. I was already paranoid enough with just the two heads and one cab- keeping the DR unplugged when using the VTM so I wouldnt accidentally turn it on with no speaker load.

Ganna play the Mesa cab a bit when it comes then just make a loop and let it rip for a bit to try and get the V30’s going.
