There seems to be two thoughts of interpretation for Wagner's Siegfried regarding the Mime's singing. That is, whether the voice ought to be comically grotesque, which I'd imagine is superior from a dramatic perspective, or normal and pleasant, which is obviously superior from a musical perspective, though you get the slight issue of a smaller distinction between the voice of the Mime and Siegfried.
