What's a genre of music you love that rarely gets discussed here?

For me it's rockabilly, particularly the original stuff from the 50's. Can't get enough of it even though a lot of it admittedly sounds alike.

It fucking sucks

The Mitch Miller schizo once said he genuinely finds housewife pop more interesting than rock 'n' roll, which I find ludicrous

I love glam rock, but you only ever see bowie threads, which i admit i love bowie too. but feel like bowie evolved past glam rock into a rock in general icon.

t rex, new york dolls, roxy music, mott the hoople, the list goes on!

The guy producing glitter's albums came up with that. Mike Leander. He worked on a lot of stuff.
>The whole Glitter sound started on a Mike Leander instrumental. He was trying to do a Johnny Congas type of thing and it developed from there. He was also influenced by Osibisa’s rhythms. He then put this amazing droning guitar sound on it. He found an old guitar with a really bad action on it and put it through some really heavy Fender tube amps till it was jumping off the floor. Mike played all instruments apart from the brass.” Leander was not only a producer and arranger, he was also a multi-instrumentalist who could layer multiple tracks of himself playing all the instruments: “Mike used to get in the studio on his own with the engineer and play the drums for 20 minutes trying out different drum things and then say: ‘Right, roll the tape’ to the engineer and then record a section that he would then make a loop out of and copy it onto the 24 track. He would go to overdub the bass, floor and small toms on one track, then the bass and the guitar. If he could have played brass then he would have done that as well.

remember when he subtly hinted that he doesn't like rockabilly because it would have gone against the narrative that blacks were solely responsible for inventing rock?

Visual kei, even the bands that were around in the 80s that could be considered "proto visual kei" or just alt bands from the japan in the 80s, most people on this site don't listen too them.
>>
>>131057407
Why? That's been a standard part of rock histories for as long as they've been written--mainstream music in the 50s was lame and corny until Little Richard saved us or something.

What I tend to listen to. It alternates, but generally, chanson, but then rock, just not the rock that gets talked about. Indeed, it is softer and more mellow, and perhaps the term is defined differently here than it might be among my Western counterparts. I have posted 100 rock albums to show you what I mean, feel free to listen to them, or if you desire, I may link selected tracks.

Greetings from Brest, Belarus.

Aside from it's own thread one month a year, and the odd passing mention in the metal general, I'd love to see dungeon synth discussed more. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right threads but just my experience.

I do a bit, but I am not so much into post-punk, as much as heavy/power/speed metal, psychedelic, folk, art, industrial and hard rock, I guess some punk stuff, in the form of Ceктop Гaзa, but I am not a Кopoл и Шyт type.

I have meant to listen to them more, though, truthfully. There are a lot of other bands Би-2, Ляпиc Tpyбeцкoй, Heзaлeжнaя Pэcпyблiкa MяcaP and if you go way back when you were not supposed to listen to rock (it was "big beat" that was listened to in the USSR as it was called) Пecняpы.

I will give you some songs, I hope that you like them. The first a megahit by Би-2 (this is THE song of the band, thought they had like four hits in the span of four years and then proceeded to fall off), the rest being personal choices.
