im a neet so i feel guilty for not practicing 14 hours a day when i have the time to do so, but i only get in 2-4 hours of practice every day usually... how long do other jobless losers here like me practice each day?maybe i should quit the rest of my other time consuming hobbies, ive mostly quit gaming and watching anime and movies for more time now but i just end up wasting that time instead of practicing
I wrote a riff.
I can see why so many guitar players move to japan.
>>131061806>tuned down to c standard to play dethklok>can't do pinch harmonics because the strings are too wigglywhy didn't anyone tell me?
>>131061881You absolutely can do pinch harmonics at lower tunings - presumably you've just tuned your E standard intonated guitar with 10's down to C and you're playing on spaghetti
>>131061078That was breddy gud, even awesome I'd say. Don't mind the shitposters, they live for the you's and this is all they got. Probably in cahoots with the jannies too.Ptops to the vox, I'd never normally listen to that kind of stuff expecting some overdramatic slam poetry hipster bullshit but it was an interesting soundcape>>131061564Yes, using digital stuff 4CM to record stuff in reaper since I don't have a proper mic. >>131061758That or an interface and fiddle with IRs in the DAW of your choice. >>131061881Try a baritone or maybe a thicker gauge if the tension is too floppy
>>131061836playing guitar should be fun.what makes you want to play music? find what it is that excites you about guitar and do that. yea practicing 40 hours a day is good but not if you're just forcing yourself. you have to wanna do it.for me it's writing songs. i get so excited wanting to hear the finished thing i can just play for hours and I don't get bored at all. you can of course combine learning scales/theory/techniques or whatever with songwriting, just use whatever concept you're trying to learn to like write a part.
>>131053668>Whaaaaa wheres all the rock and metal dude we need more white peopleElectric guitar was invented by a jamaican and popularized by africans and their drum beats. All cultured white people hated rock music when it arrived. It only ever served to unify whites and blacks and encourage violencr and hooliganism in both. Playing rock is more african than playing basketball. Don’t like it? Return to European musical traditions. But you won’t. Because the good European music actually requires a significant amount of learned, practiced skill and anyone can buy an epiphone and learn to play green day in a week. *unplugs your amp*So here you go wigger migger*plays white music*
>>131061896that's literally what i'm doing.i need thicker gauge like that other anon said.
>>131061865vocaroo now
>>131061915generally you wanna go up 1 guage per semitone you're tuning down to keep roughly the same tension. if you wanna play in C standard all the time then 13s are kinda needed esp on a gibson. but if you're just trying it out for a bit then it's kinda not worth redoing your whole setup
>>131061915Yes, you do. I play in C standard fairly exclusively, and I use 13 - 56. That's still quite buttery on 24.75, but quite tight on a 25.5
>>131061912tbf, flute and trumpet are very easy. a boomer could learn from scratch. clarinet and most brass is mid (trombone is a bit hard) just because they require more memorization. double reeds and strings? start as a child or do not start at allanyone itt who thinks whiteness has anything to do with electric guitar is welcome to go buy a trumpet and actually do white person things
>>131061949There’s always piano. The whitest instrument. Also the easiest. And spanish guitar. But spanish guitar is actually hard, and requires reading sheet music for guitar, which no one here can do.
>>131061906aww thanks anon>>131061912wait til you find out almost all 'european' instruments and traditions are based on middle eastern ones that got copied and then slightly modified over the years
>>131061957'spanish' guitar is heavily based on arabic music
>>131061927Nothing on hand to record with, but I'm fairly happy with it.
>>131061957i play classical guitar anon. i play electric too, classical isn't really harder it's just different.I can read music too, I sight read easy enough on piano, bass or violin. but the thing about guitar music is, unlike on piano there's multiple different positions to play each note, and unlike bass or violin you're often playing chords, melody and bassline simultaneously like on piano. But with guitar arrangements like that, you're constantly having to do little position changes and workarounds in order to actually keep everything going and not run out of fingers or be unable to reach the next note, so sheet music by itself is kinda not enough information. I mean you can usually manage but then there'll be places where the like default fingerings won't work and you have to like sudoku puzzle how you're gonna fit everything in... So i much prefer to have both tab and sheet music together for classical guitar. It's just better and people who say it's not are either just being snobbish for no reason or arent playing pieces that requires you to do anything unusual in terms of fingering
>>131061958>>131061962Europeans are literally an Asian race, an Asian culture, with Asian cultural roots who speak derivatives of ancient Asian languages. The only reason this isn’t obvious to you is because you believe the arab muslim expansion and heavy admixture with the arab and roman slave populations was the prior state of the world. The ancient middle east was primarily inhabited by people most like today’s Kurds and Pashtuns. You are all descendants of Iran, descendants of the nomadic herders of Central Asia. All of your music and writing shows this and rather than accept the reality that you are genetically and culturally Asian, you insist anything not invented in Europe is contamination. No. The contamination was, and always will be, semitic religions and the after effects of slavery and caste systems. Europeans are from the Middle East. AKA West Asia.World peace is the prize for anyone who realizes and accepts this. White people are Asian.
>>131061973phone? laptop? it's ok if you can't but damn you got me curious
what do i need to do to learn how to improvise a solo, how do i learn to shred?
>>131061994not really anon, I mean culturally yes, but there were white people in europe long before the start of waves of middle eastern immigration/assimilation in the neolithic. and genetic studies show that the relationship between modern middle eastern/asian ppl and europeans is still quite distant. it was more their culture replaced previous european cultures not through assimilation, not like wiping out who was there before.in terms of actual genetics, there's not much difference between jews and the other groups they're closely related to (e.g, shepardic = berber/maghrebi, mizrahi = palestinian/arabic, ashkenazi = eastern slavic) except for the fact that they tend to have much more inbreeding lolyou sound like you're getting your knowledge from outdated sources before we had dna testing, (we wuz aryans n shiet) or just random schizoposters idk
>>131062007learn music theorythen you can know what key you're in and what notes will/won't go, what ones will create tension resolution etcthen practice both improvising and ear training a lot so you can play what's in your head without having to stop and work it out you can also learn licks but it's kind of a crutch, but i guess good & fun for beginners cause you can play stuff and be all like wow i am so good :D
>>131061957Isaac Albeniz, who wrote many of the most famous spanish classical guitar pieces, wrote that when he composed he was trying to evoke "the true character of Spain, that is to say, Muslim Spain"
>>131062041The "native" white people were nearly wiped out a long long time ago. There’s no truly native european culture anymore. They stopped existing genetically and culturally immediately upon contact with steppe herders. We wuzzing about ancient europeans is like hispanics we wuzzing about aztecs and mayans. Unless you are pure basque/briton you are Asian and barely removed from Israelites, Kurds, etc. barely. And mostly by unrelated admixture, not a lack of shared ancestry. And even the natives were Asian, just more removed, and they lost and simply stopped existing except as remnant admixture. So you’re claiming to actually be the Asians that lost and not the Asians that won? Just because you don’t want to admit Europe is part of Asia?
heya guise can we just talk about guitar like if you wanna talk about muh musical race wars feel free go to pol and make a thread there
>>131062063Muhammad was described as pale skinned and red haired :^)The only thing that wasn’t super fucking white about him was the adoption of some afro-asiatic traditions like circumcision from the Israelites. If he stood before your people today you’d think he was based and people would be calling him literally hitler.
>>131062088idk if you're thinking im a neonazi just because im on 4chan or something but im really not. I just have learned a lot of different musical traditions and it surprised me how closely related they all are. Like, the european lute is just a transliteration of arabic "al oud" and guitar, dutar, sitar etc, all have the persian word 'tar' in them that means string. even ancient greek (pythagorean) and ancient chinese music theory are strikingly similar despite supposedly being developed independently at opposite ends of the eurasian continent. but whatever, like anon said it's not really a convo for this thread
for playing patterns on bass such as this one fast:5----------5---8------6---6-should i be fretting both 5th fret strings by raking with my index, or is it better to start with the middle finger on the first 5 and then index for next, then moving the middle to the 6th again to get into the position of pinky on 8th fret? does it matter?...
>>131062259personal preference i much prefer the multiple fingers approach but one finger will have more tonal uniformity
>>131062259middle on root, index on your 3rd/6th, pinky for 5th/octave. move to index on root pinky on 5/8 if you are doing a lot of 5/8
>>131062259this is top from bottom: D, A, E strings? Ill have to check when i get home but I think I would want to land on that first 6 with my index so I could jump to my ring finger. I've never raked much desu. For pure speed it might make sense.

So I put my compressor between my dirt and mods between just to fuck about, and it's been there for two days, and I really like it there. It's a cheap mooer yellow, but oddly, it really takes the brightness of my amp, which I had debated on changing the speaker in (it's a Blue Marvel. People seem split on it). Oddly, at the from of my chain, it didn't really help. I don't know if it's even worth changing the speaker in a Peavey Express 112. These amps don't seem to be sought after like the other 112s. I'm only really using it because I got it for 50 bucks. It's not a bad amp, but the speaker is such a weak point.
>>131062880The best way to get faster is by using a metronome. There's no other way to do it. I was also very slow as a picker until i started using a metronome daily to build up speed in my picking hand.

I've been experimenting making my own guitar picks. My conclusion: Credit cards suck for it, old ID cards work well, but the best cards to use are old health insurance cards. The bonus is sometimes those come with blanks. They work very well and I have been using one for two months with minimal wear and they very similar to nylon picks in the sound.

>>131063031i dont like them on guitar but thin picks sound awesome on bass tbdesu, my go to bass pick is a 0.6mm POM one
>>131062988i never found a good card for this. they're never as good as tortex or whatever and they're like too snappy, tortex is just right. or i like this kind of nylon pick which is like super fat and stiff, it sounds really warm and nice for playing jazz on an archtop with flatwounds acoustically but i dont like it on electric, I use the dunlop tortex 1mm ones with the "flow" shape that's kinda like jazz iii shape but biggerthere's also the dunlop flow pick which is like made of some harder material, it's not as nice in terms of tactile feel but its very bright and i can play faster with them so i use it occasionally for recording lead partsall those ones are like $1 ish each
>>131062903Why would a CEO that relies on people buying musical instruments say that it's good to use AI instead of playing music yourself, what's the end goal.
>>131063129oof on bass i like the fat ones, can't stand thin picks even more on bassbut to be honest i don't even like picks at all on bass. I usually try record everything on double bass unless I absolutely can't manage to play it properly on there in which case i use my thunderbird

>>131066089istg you guys are always calling each other trannies idk why you're surprised
>>131066114ahh it's so prettyi just have an ibanez af71f, hollowbody with the floating pickup. but if i was rich I'd get something like thatdesu tho if money was no object id probably want something with a carved top so it's louder acoustically. (idk if gibson still makes one?) I love the sound of a jazzbox with flats unplugged
>>131065880hello beautiful baby doll which strings do you use
>>131066142Those Ibanez Artcores are very nice. Good luck in your quest, Anon. The carved-top Gibsons are the L5 and L4, the Byrdland, and the Super400. All of them grail guitars.
>>131066155o.o you can just talk to me normally yknowon the jm baritone i use ernie balls because their baritone set is thicc and I tune it to drop Gthe esp les paul has 11-52 dadarriosthe tele is in nashville tuning cause i like to double parts recording on itthe epi 339 has dadarrio 13s cause i like the warmer tone from thicker strings. also i break thin strings too easythe one next to is a bass vi. it has the labella flatwound bass vi setthen there's an ibanez strat copy which has a crazy all 5ths tuning so it's like .009 to .080 G D A E B F#the ibanez has thomastik infeld flatwound 13s. they are my fave flats, super warm and smooth without being too muffledi also have a jazzmaster that has dadarrio 12s on it not in the pic
>>131066214>labellasok you’re cool in my book
>>131066161you're reminding me i went on a reverb rabbit hole looking at prices for those and weeping
>>131066161for me, it's the heritage 575
>>131066228>labellasyou actually just reminded me that i have them lol. i used to have roundwounds on it but the labellas are so much nicer, mm goddamn it's like butter. think imma write a song starting with the bass part tomorrothink i have too many guitars oh dear, i was listening to a demo i made earlier thinking like damn how did i get that bass tone xddo you have a bass vi? they're kinda not the most common but i think they're really cool
>>131066283no they aren’t deep enough for me. I have a mij p bass and a d28
>>131066251>H575Super nice. Are you the Anon who owns one?
there are people ITT rn who don't use wooden picks (shredders exempt)
>>131066304indeed, that's me
>>131066292d28? like a martin? whoah big spenderyea they're definitely not as deep cause of the short scale, the main weird thing imo is how the string spacing is more like a guitar. but i just kinda view it as like having its own unique niche, it's like a bass with melody strings toofor normal bass stuff i have a epi thunderbird and a fretless jazz bass. the epi has like ridiculously heavy strings on it so it's mega subby. I mostly have been playing my fretless acoustic bass lately tho, it's got a set of TI nylon-core strings that give it a kind of almost upright tone
Real comfy hours ITT. Took the Princeton off because it was killing the vibe. Started off with the Mesa cab just humming with the cable not plugged into anything for maybe 10 mins, then took a loop and cycled it for about 3 hours and pretty decent volume. Already sounding a ton better but obviously there's a way to go.
>>131066354hnnnfneed vocaroo
>>131066373yeah the string aren’t quite as thick either. E string is 100-110 on bass I think it’s only like 84-100 on bass vi
>>131066397yea the stock ones are like super floppy. these go up to 95 which feels kinda balanced for this, I actually don't like too fat a low E string on it because it kinda doesn't blend right with the higher ones if you do
>>131066386I think this was on the 575 iircjust a little improvhttps://voca.ro/101k51HKaQVi
>>131066454probably I know chords suck on a regular bass so that makes sense. dropping octaves from the high to low f on a bass feels so good tho
>>131066455mm that was nice we should do like a thread jam at some point we can like layer up parts
>>131066477yea tru dat. Chords on this are like okay depending on context. It's still better to do like open instead of closed voicings tho like for example with C majorx578sounds like shit but9x108sounds passable in the right context
>>131066542that would be pretty swell
I want an electric guitar that feels like an acoustic
>>131066575get an archtop
>>131066575just set up your electric with 13s and a 6/64ths action, that's essentially what I do
https://youtu.be/3htyYmPe9Xcgod damnit i love this man
>>131066606>6/64ths actioncan you explain how this figures into it?
>>131066628it's how martins come from the factoryit's high for electrics but it definitely makes it feel like an acoustic
>>131066606as someone who plays 13s and moderately high action on my electrics, I prefer 11s with pretty low action on my acoustics. go figure
>>131066583don't wanna deal with feedback bs
>>131066686heh, that's pretty good
>>131066641i see, thanks
>>131066702if you get a laminate top one it's honestly finei play jazz/rock/trip hop that gets pretty heavy and distorted at times on my ibanez jazzbox and never really have an issue. you do get that kinda infinite sustain feedback tho but i like itif you wanna play metal then yea it's not the right guitar
ok anons it's 4am i should go to bed, night all t. tranon
burn in hell
>>131066812<3 ill say a little prayer for you too
Jazz box? no thanks, I want a Jazzmaster

>>131067595there's no context where you can play an acoustic guitar for people where you don't look like a douchebag. unless you're a professional musician.
>>131067609you don’t need to play for people, you play for the women directly
>>131067609Idk I go to a weed bar and people bring their acoustics pretty frequently. We were all smoking in the back and some dude just starts strumming chords and a girl complimented him and started a conversation. I would never debase my love for music by using it solely to get laid.
>>131067642that makes you look even more like a douchebag

>>131067768thatd explain why i bought that gay ass purple ironbird
>>131067775i should feel bad for you, but i don't. you seem honestly low key retarded and do npc see, npc do stuff. i've been seeing the ironbird meme being astroturfed on youtube for a while now. same with that sammy duet ltd, they were spamming the shit out of that garbage for months around the release date
It's a proven fact that high quality cables improve toan
>>131067804define "high quality cable" without googling or you're a sucker that got swindled
>>131067803>i've been seeing the ironbird meme being astroturfed on youtube for a while nowWhat?
>>131067819>he doesn't knowpoor guy
>>131067803i have no idea what youre talking about. i got the sd2 because acid bath was my favorite band as a kid. you seem strange lol
>>131067826you can shape what the youtube algorithm and what it recommends to you by isolating different accounts with certain ranges of IP addresses and teaching it over the months (or years). the one i use for 'metal' has been spamming bc rich ironbird content at me for the last number of months even though i have no interest in bc rich guitars. it's completely inorganic so bc rich must be paying for the advertising. same thing when esp released that sammy duet ltd. if i had a normal youtube algorithm setup i might not have noticed it but since it exclusively shows up in my recommendations on my 'metal head' profile it's easily recognizable as astroturfed content>>131067882exactly lol. acid bath is an astroturfed zoomie tiktok thing, like i said npc see, npc do. aesthetically you might could have come up with something interesting on your own if you weren't gimping yourself by unconsciously allowing yourself to be inundated with corporate advertising. you're definitely paying the price even if you're unaware of it
>>131067955>acid bath is an astroturfed zoomie tiktok thingi was listening to them in 2006 as a child. im actually really happy they got popular because it meant they reunited and i got to seem them live. dropping acid and playing the same guitar as duet does when he trips is awesome to me.>aesthetically you might could have come up with something interesting on your own if you weren't gimping yourself by unconsciously allowing yourself to be inundated with corporate advertising. you're definitely paying the price even if you're unaware of ityou might be on to something here. give me some ideas. im willing to listen. right now i kinda just like X and V shape guitars. i do have a cheapo ibanez superstrat at my parents, that i absolutely love, but the x shape just speaks to me for some reason.
Leave Stealth anon alone, he's a cool guy and he doesn't afraid of anything
>>131067980 i have enough on my plate with my own aesthetic ideals without trying to figure yours out too, i'm just telling you how your posts look from an objective point of view. i can tell you going down the normie npc metal path will get you nowhere. that's why bands like nile and mastodon stuck out like a sore thumb, they came up with unique gimmicks within a world of fat retards wearing bullet belts and childish cookie monster vocals about satan
>>131068103its okay. im enjoying speaking with him even if hes very eccentric>>131068116i mean i literally own nile cds from when i was a kid too. i named a pet after one of their songs. would you like to see my old metal and rock cd collection from when i was like 14? i have weird stuff like the boredoms.
I have tried to get a gibson made to measure but they simply won't make the guitars i want.>double cut melody maker with double cream humbuckers in walnut finish>semi hollow XPL double cut les paul >25.5" scale length les paul custom lite
>>131068162Based Gibson telling retards to fuck off
>>131068162I thought about just buying Gibson and forcing them to make some cool models but then I'd have a job and a public title so I'm not doing that bullshit.
>get my intonation perfect>out of curiosity check the neck>do the trick by holding the string at 12th and 24th fret and check distance>mfw string isnt moving at allgod damn it, thats why the intonation was off. i forgot to adjust the neck from winter to summer.time to adjust the shit again i guess.

why would anyone think this is a good idea? leo fender was a cool guy but istg some of his bridge designs are just like random screws and shit
>>131069022It was the Golden Gate, but those safety nets will catch them now unless you can really fling it out there.
Traded in my SG for this Epiphone Les Paul Standard. What do you guys think? I'm not quite sure of the finish on it. Is it a Lemon Burst or Honey Burst? Also, it's a little heavier than my SG so I may have to get a thicker, wider strap for it to make it a little more comfortable on the shoulder.
>>131069256personally, im not much of an sg enjoyer so i think it's an upgrade>finishyep it's yellow
>>131069256what is this shit on your floor?
/gg/‘s opinion on the best boost for the DR? Using my plumes for the time being but I’ve also used my OCD a little bit. Really going for tones like Comeback Kid style melodic hardcore but also stuff like Make Yourself and Crow era Incubus. Also kind tough judging what I like atp since the V30’s arent even close to broken in. Just asking for a place to start from you guys so I can do some research.
>>131069460toan is in the fingersfr though i really like the soul food it's a klon centaur clone iirc

How can I mute with my picking hand if I like to play right at the bridge?
>>131069779you can use like the edge of your thumb to mute in front of where you're picking. But its kinda a different soundOr just do LH muting

>>131070030im 34 and use 12s. pussy
>>131070046I've broken my hand before so that probably has something to do with it also
>>131069984wow anon that was extremely specificIt's just ascending a minor chord in 6ths and then landing on the dominant so it doesn't surprise me theres a bunch of similar things probably
>>131070050ah fair enough. I think its kinda just a matter of setup though. Did you adjust your truss rod and bridge to suit the 10s? I prefer higher tension strings because the arc of their vibration is smaller, so you can have the action lower. Also i feel like I kinda have more dynamic range with them, like with thin strings you cann't go over a certain velocity or it just sounds ass
I bought a new 4x12 and a fuzz pedal. It's going to be a great weekend.
I bought amplitube before looking at other options really and I think it's ok but I dont like having to pay money to get other amps and pedals and such. Should I just get a vox AC30 or is there a better way to get that sound with a simulator? I just don't like playing out loud with other people in the house so an actual amp would kinda limit when I can play
Kyle Bvll is based. Riffs, Beards and Gear is a faggot.
>>131070059It's cool dawg, didn't mean it to be a call out or anything pissy. A pirated copy of that made me want to learn electric, like some many boomer guitar heroes had their Jimi Hendrix religious experience when they saw him live/on tv so specific details there are buried in my psyche and bubble up every now and then. What was your lightbulb moment?>>131070451Can vouch for the quad cortex and the neural dsp stuff on the sound department - feel wise it's not quite there yet. I compared profiles/captures of an amp I had but currently broken - sound was very close but the real thing does feel different while playing, maybe that's the sag they're talking about. Or the NAM A2 stuff. If you really want an AC30 but won't be able to run its paces then you might want to purchase yet another thing - an attenuator. But if you never had a tube amp before do check em out, I think they're awesome as it will teach you a lot about your playing dynamics aside from the sound quality.
How do you guys record? Yes, I am aware that's a very broad question, but I'm thinking about the ways that your average anon on a moderate budget does home recording. I've never gotten on well with DAWs and haven't really tried beyond mucking around with the very sterile PODfarm and Ableton when I was like 17. I can't programme drums, and I don't have microphones. What would you recommend to someone who has no prior in this area?
>>131070629>don't have microphones>don't want to use DAWI have some bad news for you m8
>>131070639I didn't say I wouldn't use one, I just haven't used one that was any good or intuitive enough for me, a retard. I also can purchase aforementioned items.
>>131070650FL studio was made for retards so that's what I use.
Anon, you only play quartersawn necks right........?
>>131070046But is your 3rd string wound????Thought not!
>>131070629if you dont have any of those just plug your amp headphone out line into your pc mic-in line, i use reaper for DAW, its great and free
>>131070650logic. thru an 8 channel mackie preamp, have a bunch of mics and stuff too. needs a mac to run but it's way better than anything else imothey all kinda do the same thing but it's just less counter-intuitive than other daws. i also get way better latency and stability on mac at least ime
>>131070719yea it is actually i hate plain 3rds. I have one guitar with lighter strings (11s) and a plain 3rd which i use if i want that specific sound which is like hardly ever
>>13107004612s on a strat is crazy work
>>131070749cause I use 12s and 13s, I think plain 3rds get a really weird inharmonicity when they're that fat. flatwounds always have wound 3rds too but i only have them on my archtop and a bass rn, used to have them on my tele but now it's in nashville tuning
>>131070719I'm 36, I use 56-13s and my third string is wound. You're all pussies.
>>131070764well, they're on my jazzmaster. it's like a custom set mixed from a set of 12s and 13smy strat is like .009-.080 because it's in an extended range all 5ths tuning. basically has the range of on 8 string but just with 6 strings, and the chord/scale shapes are the same as on mandolin/cello. the top string is a few steps higher than an E so it has to be a .009 or it'd snap
new thread>>131070909
>>131066378I always cringed at your room when you posted it but I gotta say this looks really nice and badass now. Fender shit on the floor where it belongs, too.I am pleased with it.
>>131066575I was absolutely floored about pic related when I tried it from a mate who had one. I have no earthly idea how one does come across Michael Kelly stuff in Europe or I would have one. No I will not pay 300 bucks on reverb in shipping costs for a used 800 dollar guitar...Still, this thing sounded incredibly when switched to acoustic mode and the fact that you can blend both acoustic and electric like on the John Petrucci signature Music Mans that are like six times the price. This is one of my current dream guitars.>inb4 chinkshitplease try one, if you're from the US and see one, I'm as anal about this stuff as it gets but I was still impressed.
>>131070046same. i like light gauge strings
>>131070629this thing>moderate budgetoops
