Like it happened with Daft Punk's Discovery, it will take plebs and boorish philistines at least 5 years to understand Reality Awaits.

Mods can you please rangeban this faggot?
>>
This is a cool fanmade concept album. Personally I'm glad they stopped with The New Abnormal.

Go to bed Julian

Having never heard the Strokes before this year, finding them through the Voidz, I thought Comedown Machine was the obvious best album besides TNA, and I think this new album would make a clear top 3 with them. It surprised me to find that people exalt This Is It and sometimes Room on Fire above all the rest. Those two sound completely insipid to me.

ITI is a good album that sounds better than it actually is to some people bEcAUsE YoU jUsT hAd tO Be tHeRe MaAAaNnN. ROF is literally just the improved version of ITI.

This band didn't discover greatness until Angles but that album's reception was mostly appropriate considering the greatness on that album was mostly confined to a few obvious highlights. Comedown Machine was their first great album. TNA is their masterpiece. I'm still trying to figure out how much i like the new album but it is, at the very least, a very good Voidz album.

Unironically, FIOF has the best four-track sequence of The Strokes’ entire discography: Electricityscape, Killing Lies, Fear of Sleep, and 15 Minutes.

Setting aside all BS, this is easily the beet rock album since 2024
>>
>>131069943
No one will remember this album in five years
>>
Are people seriously saying this is a bad album? I mean this is objectively at least a 7, but to me more like an 8.8, maybe even 9.3
>>
>>131073861
exactly the opposite, it's going to be reappraised like comedown machine, but with the difference that this is actually a great album, easily top 10 of the decade so far

No one gives a shit about comedown machine except a handful of Strokes fans who act like the band can do no wrong.

FANTANO WORD FOR WORD WHEN I WAS A KID
STICK TO THE TECHNICAL CAUSE THAT'S GREAT
BUT YOU WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE ART IN ANY AGE

They should have commit it to a more outrageous usage of Autotune. They should have went the whole way to pleb filter it.
>>
>>131069943
growing on me with more listens. he's treading new ground with the autotune + classic analog instrumentation combo, and interesting themes on the modern world and celebrity in the lyrics. solid record from the boys
>>
>>131074029
The auto tune is too prevalent for most of it to be listenable

>>131072919
Zoomers are fucking nuts. The first album had the songwriting, tone, and raw personality, they dropped hard when they got successful and lazy
>>
>>131072919
is this it is one of the definitive albums of the 2000s gtfo

discovery only has two good songs

>top 10 of the decade
My fucking ass it is. This year alone has these that are better
>undying love for burning world
>vol 2 AgP
>boys of dungeon lane
>freezer by gezebelle
Then there were plenty of solid records in 2025 and further you go back it gets bigger. I really enjoyed Adrienne Lenkers songs, gezebelle gaburgably gayburger, and MJ lenderman manning fireworks. Melvins, St Vincent had good records and the latest Yeule was solid too

>Band can do no wrong
Closer to fact than fiction desu

I had a theory that he autotuned the vocals so you would look up the lyrics. Feel like he really wanted to *write* this time around. I still really dig the album but the instrumental bits def feel a bit subdued this time around.

I will say it does feel new for The Strokes and the probably 80 percent of their audience that haven't listened to The Voidz

I still think it sounds like the Voidz sounding like the Strokes if that makes sense...kind of like Leave it In My Dreams from Virtue
>>
Psycho Shit sounds like the Mars Volta
>>
So many people talk about the autotune ruining the record but I see it a different way. So many beloved albums have flaws in them, whether they are tiny or big. Fucking Trout Mask Replica is a dogshit album that has every psuedo intellectual yelling in your ear how its a masterpiece when everything is off beat and out of sync. The instrumentals for this album are fantastic and Fab's drumming is prob the best from any Strokes album. The warbling roboticized vocals ARE the flaw but not in a way that makes the album garbage.

Falling Out of Love is amazing, Lonely in the Future is a banger, The Fruits of Conquest is groovy as fuck, Going to Babble On is basically classic Strokes, Dine N'Dash is also incredible. Liar's Remorse imo is the only big miss on Reality Awaits but even the last minute of the song is great.
>>
>>131076200
I have another theory. Julian resents his audience for liking better his old stuff, so like a good nepobaby he said "oh, you won't tell me what to do! Do you like songs like Modern Age? well fuck you!"
>LooOUoUouOuOOOUuoouOougagGAgaHAhAHA muh autotune fuckouAUAUAUSUS ThiS-Is-ArT

I can't stop listening to this. Best strokes album. So much better than their last one.

I still prefer The New Abnormal but Reality Awaits is good too. Fruits of Conquest feels pretty similar to what Julian does in The Voidz tho
>>
>>131075516
is this it is THE definitive album of the 2000s. second place goes to turn on the bright lights.
>>
>>131082801
This is true. But it's Kid A > Is This It > Discovery > Turn On the Bright Lights.

>Bright Eyes - Lifted
>Modest Mouse - The Moon And Antarctica
>The Killers - Hot Fuss
>Franz Ferdinand - (self-titled)
>You pick out Hot Hot Heat - Make Up The Breakdown

>>
>>131079258
I like Liars Remorse though, probably Julians best vocal on the album.
The last track is the only snooze for me.

Very anticlimactic finish, especially compared to Ode to the Mets from TNA
>>
>>131083113
You had me until franz Ferdinand and Hot Hot Heat because they stink
>>
>>131083170
no. In retrospect they stink. But back then they were two emerging artists that were cool as hell.
>>
>>131083215
Dunno about hhh but ff are still good. Maybe not as good as they were back than but their last two albums have some good tracks
>>
>>131083170
Franz Ferdinand were fantastic until their guitarist left
