what makes it so good?
>>
It sounds nice
>>
>>131074291
yeah but why?
>>
>>131074294
Only some of them sound good like When You Sleep
>>
>>131074283
It's not good though.
>>
>>131074283
Mostly Kevin Shields' usage of highly unconventional chords. I've not seen many people mention that. It's always the walls of sound and glide guitar technique; never his undoubtedly creative composition.
>>
>>131076668
I mean the nigga has to take like 15 different guitars with him to each show because his songs all use wildly different tunings and it would take too long to retune between each song. Dusty old bastard is a chord grandmaster, shits wild.
>>
It isnt, boring composition and the noise isn't noisy enough to care
>>
I wanna know why he wanted to record it in mono
>>
>>131076668
i've never seen or heard any evidence of him using especially notable chords. have you, or are you just saying that because it sounds good?
>>
>>131074283
it's shitty noisy pop (remember when people called it that instead of shoegaze?) with a very anal over-production, treating the songs like electronic music rather than rock.
>>
One of the only albums I ever bought that I only listened to once. Anybody who likes it is just trying to fit in with people they’ll never even meet. It fucking sucks.
>>
>>131080559
have you ever tried to play one of his songs?
>>
>>131074283
It's a stunning symphony of out-of-tune vacuum cleaners with whispered lyrics about shoving vacuum cleaners up your ass and pressing 'suck'

Because this album really does suck ass
>>
>>131074294
the rhythms are the secret sauce.
>>
Just listened to this album for the first time yesterday. It's the distortion mang
>>
>>131074283
It's the kind of rock that you feel in your butt.
>>
>>131082641
You died over thirty years ago, Frank.
>>
>>131074283
but it isn't good
>>
>>131082430
that's why you didn't like it, i didn't care at first too desu
>>
are there other examples of such a weird and creative mixing/production to hide the bad music?
>>
kevin shields has a good knack for melody and autistic perfectionism when it comes to mixing/guitar riffs

slowdive's shortcoming was lacking the distortion and edge of mbv
lush lacked the mixing/production (too thin sounding)
ride were too 60s and beatles-y neo psych
mbv were the best balance of noise and sugary pop melodies
>>
>>131074294
It's fairly basic pop songs distorted
>>
Call a jannie out and they’ll delete all your posts. Pathetic fucking cunts. Maggots all. Everyone you know (including your parents) hates you and it’s for good reason.
>>
>>131074283
He's just another woke Brit now supporting unlimited third world migrants. Not so fun to listen to anymore knowing he's that kind of person.
>>
I heard he played a D once and an E in the same song. Crazy musical scientist.
>>
>>131074283
it got sampled by haunted mound
>>
>>131077019
Probably because he supposedly doesn't like delay effects. Stereo audio played on speakers unavoidably produces a flanger effect when you move your head. This is especially noticeable with spectrally dense recordings like Loveless. Doesn't happen with headphones, which suggests headphones is correct way to listen.
