Dean Ween was right and this shit continues to exist just so try hard over emotive vocalists can sing it at karaoke and talent shows
>>

It's unironically a good catchy song
Unforgettable how that vocal phrasing goes on those high notes
It just got overplayed so it got on people's nerves especially if you're a mu hipster who only likes le obscure shit

Bigger...Better...Faster...More! [Interscope, 1992]
Except perhaps for a few pie-eyed corner-cutters in marketing, nobody born before Nevermind the Bollocks thinks Linda Perry is alternative. It was to avoid distracting attention from her big, vague voice (referents: people she's never heard of such as Lydia Pense and people you wished she never heard of like Ann Wilson) that her producer took her aside and urged her to axe her female guitarist for a male hotshot. Janis is dead. Unfortunately, her vision of meaningful rebellion lives on. C

>over emotive vocalists can sing it at karaoke
Is it really a popular normie choice at karaoke bars? Sounds like a somewhat difficult song to sing, I mean, those vocal shifts aren't very easy and belting out the chorus seems physically demanding, not for every fat slob.

Not reading that, think for yourself and get back to us.

How fucking old are you? This song is so heavily tied to so much American pop culture from the 90s.
And your little baby ass thinks of Indians? Euros? Jesus fucking Christ.
>>
>>131081176
because it has a catchy chorus and verse preceding the chorus
>>
>>131081590
That song peaked at #13 on the Hot 100, though. It also was on heavy rotation on MTV and was extremely overplayed on the radio, like it would be played every hour. A couple of remixes were also popular.

Her pussy smells like salt and vinegar chippies

>1990s queer baiting lesbian Lilith Fair vibe
>hollering vocals in the meme chorus HEEEEEEEEYYYYYY like she's trying to call the cattle home
>terrible mixing, like the cheap built-in pickup on the acoustic guitar is going directly into the mixing board
>meme girl-plays-lead-guitar sounds

it's almost perfectly designed to irritate.

But Linda Perry gives really good interviews and seems like a legit songwriter/producer. and these annoying butch chicks weirdly tickle my receptors so idk. an overbearing bitch in big ass boots with piercings... somehow i find it in my heart to want to turn her straight

you thought this bullshit was only invented in the 2010s. it was actually worse in the 90s in some ways.
>>
>>131082155
Idk I think it was her genuine project.
You can find footage of her band from 1990/1 while she was still working on the album, before the alt-rock stuff blew on mainstream charts.
And she was doing these acoustic uptempo songs, kinda in the vein of 10000 Maniacs, Eddie Brickell and Tracy Chapman.

It was pretty good.
And that's how the album also turned out. So you can't accuse her of jumping on the alt-rock bandwaggon because the album sounds exactly like these songs were before the alt-rock craze.

>you thought this bullshit was only invented in the 2010s. it was actually worse in the 90s in some ways.

Not so sure. In the 2010s they tried reviving Lilith Faire dyke rock, but it wasn't rock and was just generic boring pop.

It’s the drunk heartbroken dyke battle cry and there are plenty of those to go around.
