https://voca.ro/1ctWSlICBOnqRough demo.I can't figure out what to do for the fucking outro of this. Got some cool guitar recordings for it but I'm not sure if it fits and what to do vocally. Up until then I like the structure although it's pretty rough all around. >>131161884That's nice man. Your voice reminds me of the guy from Powerplant at certain points.
my favorite take from last night's croon practice, a slow Beatles reimagininghttps://vocaroo.com/11ohEjjk2XVE
haven't picked up a guitar in over a year, but i thought i'd get back on it. here's a very sloppy rusty cover of sam stone by the late great john prinehttps://vocaroo.com/1mKJNQvrQsPo>>131161884>>131162834>>131162444love these!
>>131162444p coolI don't like the guitar (?) that comes in at 2:17, but I do like the guitars at 3:39. Outro suggestion: run a couple extra loops of the the bass, guitar, and cricket-noisy synth loops, then close out on a bar of the cricket noises

>>131161884Really enjoyed this, your voice is well-suited to it>>131162444This is fun to listen to. Very enjoyable>>131162834Really nice. Soft, but has a lot of body to it>>131163013Don't be so hard on yourself, it wasn't sloppy. I wasn't familiar with the original and you've convinced me to give it a listen.>>131170958Baffling, thank you for sharinghttps://vocaroo.com/1mok9ksQQbVAThis is me fucking around with my synths. Not an improvisation, I planned it out, but not super well. I've only got two synths and a sampler right now. It's live recorded, but I got it mastered just for fun
>>131173668noice, what kind of synths you got?
>>131176853Behringer Grind, Moog Subharmonicon, and my sampler is a KO II. It's a fun little setup, but I need something to play leads on

https://vocaroo.com/1mG3Ktfp7a3VNoisy experimental rock but different>>131161884Quite some effects. Voice sounds legit.
>>131162444I would listen to album of this, your production sounds pretty impressive. And unlike other anon the guitar was tight though probably should've changed after 4 bars a bit
https://vocaroo.com/12ApDz0CNdr0 I have a really hard time with production, any tips on the vocals?Recs>131161884>131182629

>The QuadRough demo of a song I’d started a few weeks ago and just got back to. Dunno if it’s any good/finished/shite.https://vocaroo.com/1oTkTKMSY7ls>Triantán SuthainExperimenting with flamenco-ish techniques. Added another verse and iteration of the chorus since laying down this demo but this is the general idea.https://vocaroo.com/13pnn2NVJDSh>>131162834The piano playing on this is gorge>>131170958cursed. gg.>>131182629very nifty, love the little rhythmic variation>>131184699the sounds are very very cool, though I can’t help but wonder if it might not be more effective if the guitars were a little tighter rhythmically? I know it’s supposed to be loose but still>>131187359the vocals are a bit nasally like your choking out everything from your throat. sing from down in your chest. guitar parts at the end are great btw.

i'm a bass player, this is the first thing i've recorded with a guitari can't get used to the pick lol so i just used my fingershttps://voca.ro/1oxJRizV3uF3
>>131190440comfy. the softer feel of the finger playing suits it
>>131190440100% pick-free guitar playing – beyond just actual “fingerstyle” proper – is a totally legit way of playing. There’s obviously going to be certain timbres and styles out won’t necessarily be able to pull off bareback, but there’s a shittonne of unique stuff you can do with dynamics and combining techniques with just your fingers.
>>131187932Lovely chord choices in the first one. Really atmospheric, suits the lyrics well. The singing in the second one is less smooth, but the song idea seems good. What language is this?
You're making me want to try again
>>131192345Do it bro
>>131187932>tighter rhythmicallyYou are right for sure but once I get that deep I am almost never able to go back and clean it up. If its any consolation the rest of the song is more rhythmically tight and this is the junkie breakdown>>131189904Thanks for listening
>>131193575That makes sense - the overall sound is pretty sick; you have the full piece?
>>131173668this is neat, kinda reminds of a lighter/chip-tune-y-ier Front 424
>>131191923Thank you. I still dunno if they’re any good at all though myself. The second one is in Irish.

My masterful cover of the greatest Beatle song of all timehttps://vocaroo.com/1bSPYH2i2D4e
Surely we can keep this thread around for a little longer?
https://vocaroo.com/1jSunYsIoszwthis is pretty old (2+ years) demo of mine. guitar is pretty basic but i love the bass and vocals( lyrics are placeholder though)>>131161884great
>>131180138How to sampler? Do you record things beforehand or do you make new things as you go usually?Live electronic performances just seem incredible. I can maybe manage sweeping a filter or change steps around. It's so easy to fuck it all up with the wrong knob.
https://vocaroo.com/16AiLRNFaq2K
>>131161816https://voca.ro/1ogBwjL2UhaQHave a little riffy
>>131203429this sounds like complete dog shit, especially that amp, what the fuck is that? you playing through a aliexpress bluetooth speaker or something?
>>131204052That's the punk garage band sound
https://voca.ro/1ouBP7W1LalQ
>>131203207Sampling isn't really that hard, the hard part is finding the right stuff to sample, which I'm clearly failing at. Other than that, it's all about trimming it so it sounds right, pitching it so it's in tune, making sure strong syllables fall on a beat if you're sampling a voice. When it comes to live electronic performance, you just gotta get comfortable with your instruments. If you know what every knob does, you won't be afraid to turn it. If you want stuff to sound clean and well-orchestrated, invest in a good MIDI controller. I made the mistake of just letting the internal sequencers handle everything and it gets boring and difficult to modify quickly. Next on my shopping list is a keystep pro. Anyway, behringer makes decent cheap synths. Don't let any stuck up synth purist tell you otherwise. Sink like 250 bucks in and give it a try. Another 100 or so for a plain keystep to control it. If you like it, you can end up having fun and being broke like me.
>>131203207>>131205165Realized I didn't answer your question. I keep a notebook where I plan out sets. Basically, at 130bpm you've got 8 blocks of 4 bars per minute. Decide how long you want to go for, then start planning out how to fill those blocks. It's not recorded, youre playing live, but it gives you some structure and takes away some of that flailing feeling that comes with performing. You can, and should, improvise within those blocks with modulation and stuff.
>>131204977Get the general anime RPG battle music idea, but lots about this just doesn’t gel: the transitions, the piano riff, etc
>>131205318You got the mood, but wanted to do it more prog rock sound
>>131193477https://vocaroo.com/1jbixu2qGgw7This thread has been getting dangerously close to page 10 several times, and I've bounced off a whole bunch of stuff since yesterday. Tried making a more ambient sweeping soundscape but couldn't get those quite right this time. I think it's decent.>>131205165Speaking of playing with a patch a bit. No sampler though. And I'm far less of a synth purist because I use synths on my computer. There are samplers here too.
>>131206104This is really solid stuff. The opening made me think of that Tom Waits song, whats he building in there. The instrumentation wasn't really anything like that song but it just came to mind, similar vibe. Very cool soundscape. What gear are you using?
>>131206170Appreciate it anon. I'm using fake modular aka VCV Rack. The workflow just works better for me than actual DAWs.With a Launchkey mini for easier control compared to using the mouse. Kinda want more knobs though.I am much too poor to afford real modular equipment.
>>131206225Oh cool, I've never messed around with that. I might give it a try. Currently trying to start a modular setup, but I'm making it harder on myself by designing my own VCO. KiCad sucks by the way, if you're thinking of making your own PCBs. I'm in too deep at this point.
>>131206313I have looked at DIY kits for sure. I would love to have a proper physical setup. It's really fun to use well thought out fixed racks by other people. Mainly Omri Cohen who is the goat when it comes to VCV stuff on Youtube. Also has a lot of physical videos. I've had an awfully hard time making a good, varied one myself though. So if I had to spend thousands of bucks on physical stuff. Only to realize that oh. It's kinda one note. It would really suck. Also>Two unsynced, unquantized step sequencers for pitch informationSo much for staying in tune. That's kind of the beauty of it. Voltage is voltage and anything goes anywhere. Fixed racks really force you to abuse the stuff you have.
>>131206448It's gotta feel good when you make something decent come out of a rack you put together though. That's what I hope, anyway. There's a lot of good guides out there that don't tell you the exact modules to start with but give you guidelines. I think I'd prefer that to just buying a bunch of modules someone else put together, even if it does end up being kinda one note. Me personally, I've already sunk a bit of time and money into semi-modular gear and learning about how modular works, plus I do a lot of electronics work and have the equipment laying around, so it makes sense to just take the plunge. Who cares. I just want to die with a wall in my house that looks like a spaceship.
>>131206604>I just want to die with a wall in my house that looks like a spaceship.Based wish for sure.I mean more. Making a rack and reusing it over and over. As if it was the only one/pretend physical. That's the hard part.Making a bespoke virtual one is free and easy. Like the one I just used. The only issue is the analysis paralysis of having to look at all the options every time. Having one work for a variety of things and do a lot of stuff at once is the hard part.I certainly have a selection of modules I reuse constantly. Just not in the exact same configuration that a fixed rack would be.
https://voca.ro/1fuxABo4uLh1alternative ish
gettin ready to release an EP here's a track im super proud of https://voca.ro/16NdGWqKpAtC
I don’t use Vocaroo but I guarantee you I’d drop to my knees and worship this cute twink’s cock until he creams on my face
>>131206799
>>131206680I wouldn't worry too much about running out of interesting stuff to do. Even with a fixed rack with a handful of modules, your possibilities get astronomical fast. If you've got x inputs and y outputs, you've got 2^(x*y) ways to connect them (if you've got stacking cables or enough multis). That's not even counting knob positions.
>>131206812And I’d look him in the eyes as he releases on me
>>131206773shits fuckin crazy

thanks your music is amazing too! do you know where i can find more?
>>131207876bah reply was meant for you >>131207294i dont have a soundcloud i guess i can make one? do you? the track is hard af i think it's just purely a mixing thing. im curious what you're using to record.
>>131190440https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQwpdY3Fz9cthis is pretty different from what you're doing obviously, but this guy does pick-free guitar in a really interesting manner. i think he describes it as basically playing slap bass. you might be interested in learning his stuff anon
>>131208406https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnJ2mv2KR6sI have a YT account with my stuff I put up,a majority of it is old-school rap but i do newer styles every now and then.

just an introhttps://vocaroo.com/1m6TFp16PDQ8
>>131213833ah well, was sort of hoping I'd heard it out in the wild somewhere (and that it wasn't stolen). That one is probably my fav out of the bunch. Not sure what that style of bass is where it's like a sustained modulated note that slides/glides between notes, but it's prob one of my fav sounding bass styles.
>>131213938Yeah I probably rely on it too much lol that's why I'm working on a track with a staccato'ish bassline.Nothing's out there in the wild except an older version of track #2, just a matter of finding someone to work with first.
