I do not care for most 80s music
why not
>>131206598Good for you, I don't care about 60s music at all, I see /mu/ glazing boy bands likeThe Beach Boys and The Monkees whose target demographic were literally boomer twee girls and I'm like "whaaaaaaat???"
>>131207299how about the beatles? do you like them?
>>131207299Boybandfag moved on from Beatles hatred and now he just blanket hates all 60s bands?
>>131207375What part of "I don't care about 60s music" you didn't understand?
>>131207299Aren't we special?
>>131206598Same, most 80's popular music sounds overproduced
>>131206598I think it's fine, but if you grew up in the 2010's you couldn't get away from it so I get the sentiment.
I like some stuff from the 80s, like the synthpop, post-punk and darkwave trends, but there was a certain sound a lot of 80s rock had that I really dislike, it was like this very shallow rock that was made for parties and stadiums. when it was past the 60s and 70s when the sound of rock was still emerging and was often considered transgressive, and now it was the era where rock was cool among normies and bands were trying to personify it, so you had a lot of music that was essentially pop, talking about partying and romance etc, adorned in the outward vestiges of rock like loud guitars doing very basic chugging riffs and superficial attitudes of rebellion and edginess, despite not being particularly edgy or rebelling against anything in particular. some examples are Journey, KISS, Van Halen, Poison, Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, REO Speedwagon, Bon Jovi. it was comparable to how in the early-mid 10s there was that trend of fake superficial "indie rock" music, the 80s was the same thing but applied to 70s rock.
>>131207799You mean AOR/Glam Metal?
I don't care for people who make sweeping generalisations about entire decades
>>131207816yes, and hair metal. I'm almost more trying to single out certain artists or even certain songs though. for example Queen was guilty of this too although I'd say they were generally pretty good and they were more of a 70s band.
>>131207299The Monkees are great. They're a huge influence on the Beatles>>131207408To be fair, most of it is shit
>>131206598that's a shame. I can't get into 50s music even though my taste which has a shitload of punk in it insists I do. one day, hopefully.
>>131206598yeah the 80s revival is dying. we are all fatigued now
>>131208222>I can't get into 50s music even thoughDepends on what kind of 50s music. If you mean this kind, then yeah, anyone would understand that.
>>131208514Fuck you pussy, Teresa Brewer is peak https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67AeUV79Nzc
>>131206598>>131207444>I do not care for most 80s musicViolently sunset yourself (in Mineycrap), contrarian.
>scans the thread>no sign of OP anywhereRight, it's shit>closes thread
>>131208514I mostly mean Chuck Berry style stuff. I think is just more or less about how people will perceive me.>>13120844370s should definitely make a comeback with the popularity of mustaches and mullets these days.
>>13120942270s already made a comeback in the early 2000s, you missed it zoomie.
>>131206598Same. It's fucking awful. If you never performed with Peter Gabriel, there's basically no chance you released a good album in the 80s. Easily the worst decade of music since the 50s.
>>131209625t. tryhard contrarian
>>131209552I'm 44, buddy
>>131209552who the fuck was a 70s comeback band? no bands since 2000 are worthy of being called that
>>13120659850s, 60s, 70s and the 90s were great. the 80s was a dreadful road bump of synthy new wave garbage >>131208222listen to these great 50's songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIcAyzkXWxwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2jrSBSruC4
>>131211432>the 80s was a dreadfulThanks for letting us know you got no chin and have never scored.
>>131211487listen here buddy, how about you list me the best the 80s had to offer
>>131206598yay more for mehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gErjQircFP8
>ask a zoomer for a single good band or song from the last year…
>>131211567>he doesn't know millennials were the end of music
>>131206598Apologise
>>131211771god i love duran duran
>>131207827yes
>>131207799This is kind of how I feel about 80s movies too, it feels commercial and like every one follows the same plot structure
>>131206598yes but do you want what you havent got?
More physical media, that's what the world needs.
>>131209267This is why 50s music gets a bad name.
For me, it's Rush's run of 80s albums
>>131209267True, definitely an acquired taste but she's grown on me.
>>131211432>>the 80s was a dreadful>Thanks for letting us know you got no chin and have never scored.
>>131206598>mostbut you love Van Halen...unless your officer StickButthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U68nK_IbhMA
>>131206598Yeah, 80s rock was pretty fucking trash but I still love the pop side.
>>131206598music died with Elvis. last good decade for film and music was the 70s.
>>131215712hilarious!
>>131209365OP here, literally forgot I made this thread. 4chan is so slow and gay nowadays which helps me stay off it for longer periods of time. Anyways, some examples of 80s music I DO like are Avalon by Roxy Music, Hats by Blue Nile, a lot of Sonic Youth stuff, a lot of that European new age stuff (Enya, Michael Manring, etc), and Nothings Shocking by Jane’s Addiction. I guess I just really do not enjoy 80s production (especially the stadium-sized drums on all the music).
>>131211567Mamalarky, YHWH Nailgun, caroline, Mark William Lewis, Lucrecia Dalt, and Cate Le Bon all had good albums in 2025
