I figured out why they broke up.
probably because nobody could play or write but P-Mac
>>131210913>60s one direction breakup speculation threadcould've just been a /wpop/ post. did you know /mu/ used to hate this boyband before 2016? it's true. you would've gotten bullied pretty hard for it back then.
>>131210918good guess, but not quite
>>131210918>>131210929True. Have you seen the Lennon wallpaper? I'm gay.
>>131210913Ok so here it is. The 100% true verified sequence of events. The history that the band tried to suppress, but which can now be revealed for the first time.>early 1968John and Yoko hook up. At this point the band is still cool.>may 30, 1968John brings Yoko to the first White Album session. George is outraged.>sometime before june 11, 1968George confronts Yoko in front of everyone in the Apple Office. "Dylan and all the hipsters in NY says you got a lousy name, yer a total slut and pseud, ya cunt". Yoko is humiliated and outraged that John did nothing.>June 11th and onwardsJohn boycots all Georges songs and refuses to have anything to do with any of them. (Before june 11th, John had participated and supported anything George did up until and including the Kinfauns demos, where he's playing on all Georges songs). John starts forcing Yoko into Georges face at any given opportunity>Jan 8, 1969, TwickenhamGeorge tries to demo his new song "I Me Mine". John puts it down with the snide remark "we're a rocknroll band son" before gleefully walzing around with Yoko in Georges face. George sulks morosely.>Jan 10The Beatles are rehearsing Two of Us. George has cheated on Patty and as a result he has stayed up all night arguing and is in a lousy mood. When Paul loses patience with George playing, George snaps.John notices the apparent crack between Paul and George. Later the same day George has solicited the help of Paul to talk to John about his boycot and denigration of Georges songs. But John refuses to say a word. Anything George brings up is answered solely by Yoko.George snaps and confronts John. He is in a band with John - not Yoko. Who the fuck is Yoko to speak for John - she's not even in the band??This was the opportunity John had waited for. This time he wasnt just going to stand there and let Yoko be humiliated, like he had done in june 1968. He flies at George, punching George in the face. >1/2
when John got back from India he really didn't care about anything else. He didn't care about the band really. All of the caring that John left in India Paul adopted and became a bully. Ringo was too based and fucked off for a year. George was caught in the middle cause he actually got something spiritual and creative out of being in India and felt disenfranchised. John wrote all these songs that he felt were above the Beatles.
>>131211177Not true. Whenever Paul wanted John on a Paul song, John was there and helped out. John boycotted all of Georges songs, and only Georges songs, because he was furious over the "lousy name" episode. Furious enough to bring it up in the 1970 RS interview and still sound pissed about it, two years later.
>>131211134>2/3The rest of the band the entourage and the studio engineers pull John and George off each-other. But as soon as the band has sat down to rehearse again, George morosely states "I will be leaving the band now. See you guys in the clubs I guess" and walks out.John immediately suggests replacing George with his best friend, Eric Clapton. Johns been furious with George for a year. He wants George fucking gone for what he did to Yoko, and he wants George fucking gone for creating the situation where John had failed to stand up for Yoko. If Paul is also fed up with George being a pain-in-the-ass in the studio, maybe he'll go along with it? But Paul wont bite. Is it because George is his childhood friend, his "baby brother"? Is it because Paul is the one out of them most invested in the Beatles and Beatlemania and he refuses to allow the mask of the brotherhood to fall? We'll never know.>Jan 13, TwickenhamThis is the day of the infamous "lunchroom tape". The first part is a plea from John with Paul that maybe it's simply time to kick George out of the band. John appeals to the tense studio situation and that trying to work with George is a festering wound. He puts down the marker. John doesnt want George back, but if he lets George back in, then it's as a favor to Paul, because Paul wants the Beatles to go on. It's a big sacrifice for John and Paul will owe him. The subtext here is that unless George is out, there must be no more of Paul defending George or ganging up with him against John and Yoko.

>>131213154Specifically his book With a Little Help from My Friends, George Martin confirms John and George had a physical fight.Daily Express who broke the story that George had quit in mid january specifically wrote it was after a fistfight with John. After George had agreed to come back and they moved to Abbey Road, John and George read this specific article together and joke about it, implying it's not true (= the cover up)Philip Norman interviewed Apple Corps staff and Abbey Road insiders and reported that the reason for the fistfight was that George had questioned why Yoko was speaking for John in a band meeting earlier that day.
I incline towards the Lewisohn view, its not why did they break up in 1969, its more that it was incredibly unlikely they stayed together as long as they did.
