Holy Diver has easily became on of my favourite, if not the favourite, albums of all time and I only listened to it for the first time a month ago. It's incredible from start to finish, I've been listening to it almost daily and can never get tired of it. No album had such an effect on me, even some of my other favourites I don't listen as much or haven't in a while. Dio was a genius, the only vocalist whose lyrics get me hyped like that. Second time I gotta thank GTA for getting me hooked on Dio.

Jon Oliva is the greatest goddamn trad metal vocalist ever. His creepy lower register, bizzare rasp and frantic screams are all so unique.No, fuck it, the Oliva brothers are the greatest musical siblings in human history. Criss was an impeccable soloist who's expressiveness can only be matched by the likes of David Gilmour, on top of remaining profoundly skilled technically. Fight me.

I’m a big USPM fan, yet I never “understood ” pic related, which seems to be most people’s favorite. Praise generally goes towards the singer, but to me he sounds like he’s constantly out of breath and his screams sounds very strained (even if they do sometimes sound good when they’re heavily harmonized), and for me he really can’t compete with the other big vocalists of that year like Geoff Tate or Jon Oliva. What do you guys like about it? Oddly enough I do like Titan Force.

When I first listened to it I wasn't into it either, except for thinking how hardcore badass "Reign of the Tyrants" is as a track. The vocals are excellent, but for me it isn't the vocals that stand out but the band itself, as it should be. Today, Generally Hostile, Licensed to Kill, Harder than Steel, Reign of the Tyrants, Cardiac Arrest and Symphony of Terror are some of my most favourite USPM songs...dude, that is an album and a half right there. Any tradchads try exploring various extreme metal genres, and maybe some of it is good but most of it just doesn't click with you like your old trad favorites? Feels like I do it just to fit in sometimes.

Even in modern bands I prefer the ones that that take main influence from 80s tendencies. IMO metal had a more unified vision in that decade, afterwards it started to splinter off too much into different niches and the genre as a whole became very scattered.
