I have a problem. I've noticed across all genres of music that I consistently only appreciate about 5% of it, whereas the other 95% sounds genuinely awful to my ears. It doesn't matter if I'm listening to rock, metal, rap, R&B, chillwave, drum & bass, pop, EDM - or whatever - most of it sounds terrible to me. Even if I browse/listen to spotify and youtube music for 16 hours a day, I likely only enjoy 5% of it.

Does anyone experience this, or do I simply have extremely high standards and am just too difficult to please?

A solid rule of thumb for media is that about 90% of it is subpar. Survivorship bias means we remember only the small slice of excellent music produced in any era/genre and are completely indifferent to the other 90% that never gained any lasting attention.

Yes, music is for faggots

I use the randomize feature on RYM and most of what I hear is at least a 6/10

most music's decent desu once you go back past a certain point. i don't find myself having to skip things too often, but then again i don't use playlists and just search for stuff instead. music always had a low bar for it to be good, that's how the pop formula came to be and why there even is such a thing as ''catchy'' music.

you dorks have a problem with overconsuming music. how are you supposed to appreciate anything when you listen for fuck knows how many hours? that shit isn't right, you should do maybe two or three albums a week max. fundamentally changing how you experience music should change how much you feel and appreciate it, there's also changing how you actually find music and rather letting music find you because it means more that way
but you incels wouldn't know anything about that

it sounds like you are a pleb that can't appreciate anything but the most catchy melodies and song structures regardless of genre

Theres a picture of a cat with grey and white fur. The cat looks angry and wears a shark hat while sitting in a white box.

>Is most music generally not very good?

MOST MUSIC IS BAD; MOST CITIES ARE UGLY; MOST THINGS ARE DISPOSABLE; MOST COUNTRIES SHOULD NOT EXIST; DESTRUCTION IS EASIER THAN CONSTRUCTION; IT IS MORE DIFFICULT TO RISE THAN IT IS TO FALL; SUCCESS IS RARE, AND, FAILURE, FREQUENT; MOST HUMANS ARE NOT PERSONS: IT IS NATURAL.

Recommend me some philosophical books that shaped your worldview, Mr. Cumgenius.

That happened to Cuckgau btw, he's consumed so much music over the years that his dopamine receptors were fried and he eventually just couldn't really enjoy anything anymore.
