pipe organ and accordion >
the harpsichord as well

Harpsichord sounds better. Piano is too mellow and touchy-feely.
>>
>>131269975
i hate this motherfucker like you wouldn't believe

That would be the pipe organ, anon.

I would rather listen to unaccompanied piano than unaccompanied singing
>>131270650
you can play a piano like a harpsichord, you can't play a harpsichord like a piano
>>
>>131269975
i wish my parents had put me in piano or guitar lessons instead of making me play gay-ass sports. i was never good at sports. i never got any better. let me play music, you cunts.
>>
>>131273712
it's not too late to learn!
>>
>>131273919
bitch, i'm on the bad side of my 30s. it's absolutely too late to learn.

>you can play a piano like a harpsichord, you can't play a harpsichord like a piano
so what?
>>
>>131273928
You're probably never gonna go pro obviously but I actually find it much easier to learn new things as an adult than as a child/teen. The maturity you get with age more than compensates for the loss of brain plasticity.
>>
>>131269975
nobody debates this, its a known fact.
>>
>>131277178
>muh plasticity
Stop believing that bullshit
It doesn't matter until you're mega old
>>
I think guitar is cool too because of how much direct control the player has over the strings. Guitar is more expressive, piano has a higher ceiling for complexity. Guitar is more of a right brain instrument while piano is left brain, I think they are tied at the top. t. piano/keyboardist.
>>
>>131278112
>piano
>more complex than guitar
Lol
Lmao
>>
>>131278197
I'm talking about composition. You are right the process of playing a note on guitar is more complex than hitting a key on the piano. Because piano is easier to play and you can play 10 notes at once instead of 6, more complex compositions can be played more easily on a piano vs. guitar.

You're going to need more strings if you want to compete bud

The Patrician Tradition is playing both.
If you play both you can do anything you want. You become a master of music.
>>
>>131278296
check out microtonal pianos, there is one and its ancient. Piano can get crazy complex. The Italians discovered some alien forbidden technology when they made the piano.
its not a debate that it is the best instrument ever but the other anons are right guitar is also very badass and up there, 2nd place but still worth learning.

Wide range of tones and timbres. Plays across three octaves. Can play solo, accompany others, or accompany itself while you also sing at the same time. Extremely light and compact. More expressive than a piano. Really almost a mini orchestra in the right hands. Pretty much just the superior instrument.
>>
>>131282370
And yet no songs on guitar rival the beauty of the greatest piano compositions

Guitar is a compromise between piano and violin. Violin makes the most beautiful melodies, piano makes the most beautiful harmonies.
>>
>>131269975
plin plin plon
>>
>>131269975
>no distortion
>no legato playing
>no pinch harmonics
>no bends
>no whammy bar
>literally no expression

at least church organs make cool sounds instead of loud PLINK PLONKS that decay immediately
>>
>>131278273
>open strings
You still only have five fingers on your fretting hand.
>>
>>131269975
>limited expressiveness
>limited sonic flexibility
>limited musical versatility
>no bending or sliding notes
>no vibrato
>no way to play the some note on the same octave multiple times simultaneously
>can't take it out of the house easily
>can't even fucking tune it without calling a professional
>costs at least as much as a Ford Focus if you want one that doesn't sound like shit
sounds beautiful, but not a great instrument overall.

Computer > synethesizer = guitar > drums > sampler > piano > flute > violin > everything else
>>
>>131270226
Thread should've ended here.

>play guitar for years

absolutely amazing instrument

skill issue
>>
>>131282370
the piano can do all that btw
>>
>>131282370
wow, three whole octaves??
>>
>>131270172
If you can get other singers to harmonize with you sure, but solo no.
>>
>>131289164
ahahahah thats what i thought too, that such a shit range to have. meanwhile the 88 key "full range" standard piano has 7
>>
>>131270172
sadly the voice has a limited range too and is limited by genetics.
the piano still mogs it. not at expression of words and poetry tho
OP is right, its a safe opinion to have too, every competent music producer will tell you the same thing the Piano is just the queen empress of music. If you want to make good music just learn it.
>>
>>131288555
I can't carry the piano down to the beach with me and in no way does the piano have the variety of timbres of a guitar.

>>131289164
It has the three best octaves and they can be played in unisons. You need more? How often do you really use the inaudible low A or ear rape high notes on a piano?

We're talking acoustic piano and guitar. If you want to get into electronic territory the guitar vs piano mog is even more thorough.

piano high notes sound beautiful

We're talking about the king of instruments here anon. You can't just pick up the king and take him to the beach, you come to him.

yeah, in favor of the piano and it is also not even close

t. idort master race that plays both

real 1s play both

bump
>>
>>131288347
I can be expressive on a piano, but that's on spite of the piano, not because of it. Shit instrument.
>>
>>131292667
you're saying it feels like a struggle to be expressive on piano? Again, skill issue

These sound better, and the king doesn't need to worry about being ostentatious. Plus given unlimited budget this is what you would use.
