Unfortunately, his style of music was pretty easy to make and so the genre got very saturated with lots of samey sounding stuff. Then a big trend took off a few years ago of YouTube videos of lo-fi hip hop mixes with the anime girl in that picture. They were titled like "2 Hours of Chill Lo-fi HipHop Beats to Study To". So in effect lo-fi hip-hop went from a cool genre to being low effort boring background muzak, which has been ruinous to Nujabes' legacy.
