Can you recommend me some good bands that have a rich catalog of B-sides, hidden gems, unreleased material etc.
>>131281535its a basic one but pink floyd. my favorite floyd is all the stuff they did post syd and pre dark side. try obsured by clouds, zabriske point, and all the other mellow one off stuff they did
suede has the best B-sides compilation
>>131281535Steely Dan but everything that didn't make the records is kind of underwhelming aside from the lost Gaucho cuts
>>131281664So pretty much the opposite of what OP asked for. Nice one.
>>131281618fpbp, Relics is as good as any of their better mainline albums and I'll die on that hill. Julia Dream alone is S tier and I've spent years looking for any song that captures the same feelinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPBfx4_WT-w
>>131281535Oasis and Kanye.
Slowdive Souvlaki demos are goated. IMO the best demos are the ones from your already favorite bands because it's like a secret cache of extra music to discover after you thought you already heard everything from them
>>131281840>b-sides, hidden gems, and unreleased materialthat's what OP asked for and I named a band that has all three.you're retarded.
>>131281643pretty much yes
Pixies.their b sides are compiled, their demo tape eventually got an official release, and their first release was an EP. all great, imo
>>131281535unironically Radiohead
>>131281535This is quite good
>>131281618>my favorite floyd is all the stuff they did post syd and pre dark side.that's unusual but at the same time i totally get it, it's that transitional period of a band in the process of finding and reinventing itself, with good bands it can be magical
Weezer
>>131281643Manic Street Preachers as well
Modest Mouse
The Cure is a great entry point into this sort of deep dive thanks to Join the Dots. Paradise Lost is another good one, almost all of their albums have some obscure B-sides associated with them.
>>131281535Linkin Park
>>131287467>Paradise LostTheir albums always have great bonus tracks, especially Sweetness and A Side You'll Never Know, I also like their eclectic choice of covers from artists such as Spear of Destiny, Everything but the Girl or Bronski Beat
>>131287288This for sure
>>131287467>>131287539Katatonia had pretty good B-sides as wellhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ9hUrTrgTc
>>131287288Great one. Their discography is all over the place
bladee
Bardo Pond, you have to listen to the side projects and collaborations for stuff like Hash Jar Tempo, Acid Guru Pond, Aye Aye, Vapour Theories, Alasehir, Moon Phantoms, Prairie Dog Flesh etc
>>131287682patrician spotted
Porcupine Tree has lot of nice, well-curated music outside their LPs, to the extent that one of their most beloved songs is from a compilation album (picrel)
>>131287613Katatonia's another good one, like The Cure they have that Mnemosynean compilation that wraps most stuff through Fall of Hearts up.
No one said the obvious one yet? Most of their beloved songs weren't even on their studio albums
>>131288361I think Steven Wilson played that track live recently
Most bands would kill for some of these tracks
Pisces should have been a main album
>>131291009it's one of their best releases just for the fact that I personally only fuck with Gish and SD, and Pisces is all material from that era. I had obsessively collected all the singles to get the b sides so I never bought pisces, although I did end up downloading it later.there's still a fair bit of material from then that DIDN'T make it to pisces: the Lull ep, a track on the Singles soundtrack, a track on the No Alternative comp, some unreleased stuff that came out on the SD anniversary edition, and several b side tracks were not compiled onto pisces (and conversely, pisces does have a couple then-unreleased cuts, although nothing outstanding as I recall.) there was a "single" release of 3 Peel Sessions tracks, and there ought to be a release of the whole session, too. their early demos were put out by a bootlegger, but looks like they were officially released on a dvd later. then there's a lot of bootlegged concert material.so there's still a fair bit of material to get the complete picture of the early years. although looking it up just now, there was a rerelease of pisces that compiled a lot of these and more, so I guess I need to download that version now.
If you get into pavement their b-sides are like a whole new discography
Coldplay and Muse during their first 4 albums
>>131281535Stereolab has a ton of non-album material that is at least worth listening
