rap being artificially shoved down everybody's throat made us forget

Rock started as dance music, that's literally why it caught on.

rock and rock&roll/rockabilly are different things. psych-era beatles, byrds, rock-era dylan etc. were quite anti-rock&roll.

for me, what's cool is a 60iq black man talking after someone presses play on a laptop.

i mean it is
rock is cringe

Rock died for the same reason rap is dead now; at the turn of the decade all the artists that were supposed to carry the genre forward broke up or died. For rock it was grunge vocalists croaking. For hip hop it was the overdoses and shooting deaths of countless rappers

I guess that played a role but frankly I posit that technology and economic changes were as important due to robbing both styles of their substrate.
Rock needs
* Space
* Disposable income
* A local scene
* A sense of freedom
As everything got more restrictive and expensive you stopped having those systems.
Rap leaned very hard into the crime thing. With cash going away and drugs being increasingly obtained online dealers became glorified uber eats delivery wagies and there was increasingly less to steal.

Rock people remembered it's more that dance music people never really went for the rivalry. After Disco Demolition Day it just morphed and sidestepped the whole thing.
>>

Dance music is lame and used as background noise.

Also, they both were hyper-relevant for like 50 years each. I don't really think it's possible for a genre to go any longer than that without running out of novel sounds to maintain the public's interest.

Kek, based OP. I'm glad zoomers look at rockstars and cringe, too bad the stuff they're into is even more cringe and they don't realise it though.

I say low-IQ niggers seem to be in some serious trouble, if vid-related is an indication as to where they're headed.

>rock died because it fucking sucks
and water is wet.
congratulations, you just discovered that rock sucks, while every single band with guitars since punk (especially hardcore bands) has been shitting on rock. the old rock clichés always find their way crawling back into looking cool however, and i wouldn't be surprised if it happens again someday
