So this is what car wash employees look like
>>
I listened to Leaves Turn Inside You and it's just really boring and annoying drone shit. I thought it will be cool post-hardcore but it's just art fag slop.

>unironically getting filtered by an entry level album
Go back to RYM
>>
>>131295784
They aren't a Seattle band. They're from Olympia-Tumwater-Lacey. But, yes they are amazing and one of the best pacific northwest bands of all time.
>>
>>131297538
if you want more of their post-hardcore sound then check out fake train and new plastic ideas. with leaves, they went into a kind of post-rock type of sound for leaves.

Did Sarah's breast cancer go away?
>>
>>131299100
I remember Janet Weiss organized a GoFundMe for Sara. She currently has been undergoing endocrine therapy iirc. Despite challenges and the treatment, she did managed to get back behind the drum kit and perform again for a reunion with her band, Unwound.

If you like Unwound, you should check out Long Hind Legs, Vern's side project.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZcCPH4wOeQ

And also check out Witchypoo which has Sara and Vern as well, also including Steve Fisk and Slim Moon among others.

I should also mention Replikants, Justin's side project.

It's more space rock style than Unwound's more post-hardcore leanings.

if you're too old to have heard of unwound you must be literally geriatric

should also mention Worst Case Scenario, Justin's other band. Also featuring Chris Jordan, a key figure in the Olympia, Washington underground music and zine scene during the 1980s and 1990s, who would later get a shout out on their box set.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWxPVZoutG0

and Giant Henry (which was their name at the time before they changed it to Unwound.)

they all went to Tumwater high, played shows in downtown Olympia and basements cuz that's all there was, and then Olympia's scene got conflated with Seattle because Kurt DID live and gig there pre-Nevermind. Kurt threw couch cushions at them when they covered Flipper, apparently.

all credit where it's due to Calvin Johnson and Slim Moon (who founded Kill Rock Stars to put out Unwound). Unwound kickstarted KRS AND Troubleman Unlimited off the strength of people being inspired to put out recordings of theirs.

>Chris Jordan
Just saw an article Justin wrote in '91 with Pulp... choice quote
>We decided we were going to have to dress up like rednecks and go, because they had lots of pinball machines. What posers. We are such wimps that we have to dress up like "assholes" so we don't get beat up for being "fags."

more Justin trivia... different article
>Speaking of martial arts…in 2011 I started practicing Doce Pares Escrima (Also known as Kali or Arnis), which is a Filipino martial art, primarily practiced using rattan sticks. I’m into it. You see, they teach you weapons first before you learn empty-handed techniques. That is reverse from most martial arts. The origins of Escrima come from peasant guerilla fighters (influenced by Chinese and Japanese arts and others), where as many other arts evolved in the upper echelons of societies. Get it? Anybody can pick up a stick (but you must learn how to use it).

Unwound were buddies with Nirvana
>>
Let’s be honest, the whole purpose of Nirvana, Wipers, Unwound, Lync and Built to spill was to make Modest Mouse happen

If you are a fan of Unwound and you missed this, YOU MUST watch it. NOW.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gSCvqW7OzI

>Do Something Exciting is a 2016 archival documentary film about the influential post-hardcore band Unwound. Directed by the band's frontman Justin Trosper, the film acts as a visual portrait of the band rather than a traditional, polished documentary.

>Instead of modern interviews, the film weaves together vintage camcorder footage, tour incidental clips, and rare archival live performances shot in the 1990s.
