Ive been trying to listen to more 60s stuff. Anything else from pre 1970 like these?
>>131299539Unironically, listen to the Beatles. You would probably prefer the music they made from Rubber Soul onwards, which is when they branched out and diversified their sound. Also try to listen to the original North American release of Rubber Soul when it comes out later this year as part of a box set, because that's the version of the album which inspired Brian Wilson to make Pet Sounds. The first 5 Beatles albums are also great, though they're far less ambitious than the band's later works.

>>131299608i enjoy what Ive heard of the Beatles generally but none of its blown me away (with the exception of a few tracks on sgt peppers). With that said magical mystery tour and rubber soul specifically are definitely on my listen to list.

>>131299951>>131299951The 60s were pretty different from the 50s, there wasn't really a lot of housewife pop outside maybe Trini Lopez.
>>131300154still, the times having changed, Lopez had more rock and folk sounds than the wicky-wacky 50s orchestral arrangements
>>131299903at least Cash and Don Gibson got paid for those covers

>>131299539The 60s had no bad years (well, ok 62 was kind of weak).
>>131303361I could never run out of interesting music in every year of the decade.

He would have you listen to the Zombies and Red Krayola, but it's ultimately a waste of timeThe only one I really forgot to mention was Dylan, But he falls after Blonde on Blonde

>>131303361Real, as long as you listen keep listening to the Blue Note shit and not whatever gay punk shit he wants you to listen to.
What is the worst/do not listen to this 60s music? My vote goes for:>Andy Williams>Steve & Eydie>the Lettermen>Jay & The Americans>the Righteous Brothers>Trini Lopez>the Paris SistersOverall though, it's a pretty small list and does prove how high the decade's quality to garbage ratio was.
>>131303677DC5
>>131303677>the Paris SistersWho?
>>131300043cringe pleb take
>>131303705Short-lived Spector project consisting of three Jewish sisters from the Bay Area. They did buttindie whisper pop vocals like 50 years early. It sucked.
>>131303677>Overall though, it's a pretty small list and does prove how high the decade's quality to garbage ratio was.DJs had a lot of freedom in what they could play, especially in the late 60s, and that was ending by the early 70s
>>131300154Housewife pop was mostly 1950-58.
>>131303736>It suckednever heard it but highly doubt that. spector was in his prime in the 60s
>>131303859Still, he did have some duds like Bobby Soxx and The Blue Jeans that nobody remembers anymore.
>>131303677Not everyone likes Reprise Sinatra or what a lot of the older pre-rock guys were doing by the 60s. In many cases they were getting worse material as the industry increasingly shifted its focus to rock.
>>131299808Revolver is better than those albums
>>131299608fpwp>>131299539Try to Scott 2, 3, and 4, Crying by Roy Orbison, and Songs of Leonard Cohen. I think you'd like all of those based on this chart, which tends toward orchestrated music with feeling and soul.
>>131303410The Beatles are really quite bad when you take their catalogue as a whole, and they never really did anything all too good. The Stones are nothing special, but Let It Bleed is a very good album at least.
has anyone posted https://youtu.be/g1kDd6yBQZ4one of the best ‘60s tracks.
