Was it really that bad?
>>131300483Yes.
>>131300483The Final Cut is Pink Floyd's best song.
>>131300483
>>131300483it was basically a waters and friends album consisting of songs he was mad didn't make it into the wall. i do occasionally enjoy not now johnhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRnQ65J02XA
>>131301413anon pls. The Gunner's Dream? Paranoid Eyes? Your Possible Pasts? Absolutely beautiful stuff. I would say in terms of sincere beauty probably the best work he's ever done with or without Plink Foyd
>>131301637meh
>>131301637i started the "final cut is pink floyd's best album" meme back in 2011. people HATED me for posting about it.https://youtu.be/-VTJe7bNTwg
>>131303430What's it like having been here for more than 15 years
>>131303438you're here forever, kid.
>>131303430
no, its perfect and their best. thank you roger waters aka most talented floyd member
>>131303456that weren't me.
>>131303466It were me :[
>>131300483I actually like it. It's not really structured. Feels very cutting room floor.
>>131303495>Feels very cutting room floori think that's why they called it the final cut
>>131303507I never had the nerveto make the final cut
>>131303547
>>131300483THEY FLUTTER BEHIND YOU YOUR POSSIBLE PASTSSOME BRIGHT-EYED AND CRAZY SOME FRIGHTENED AND LOST
>>131305355the guitar solo and hammond organ together is so fucking good. i swear it's the best they've ever sounded in the studio
It'd be a hell of a lot better if Gilmour didn't suck at electric guitarvideo killed the radio star
>>131303507Yeah. It's just a weird album.
>>131301413>didn't make it into the wallWasn't that just Tiger Broke Free or whatever? The vibe is very different (and superior) to The Wall. Not PF's best because it sorely misses Rick, who in my opinion was the soul and "sound" of the band. >>131303456I love TFC but this anon is tripping. >Thatcher>fear of nuclear war>Falklands>realisation that the post war dream, cradle to the grave care, jobs for life etc ain't happening It's a very 80s album. The English 80s weren't just about George Michael and dayglo.
The Final Cut [Columbia, 1983]Though I wish this rewarded close listening like John Williams, Fripp & Eno, or the Archies, it's a comfort to encounter antiwar rock that has the weight of years of self-pity behind it--tends to add both literary and political resonance. With this band, aural resonance is a given. C+
>>131307051>this anon is trippingbut how so? it seems your overall take is in agreement
>>131307077This may be art rock’s crowning masterpiece, but it is also something more. With The Final Cut, Pink Floyd caps its career in classic form, and leader Roger Waters — for whom the group has long since become little more than a pseudonym — finally steps out from behind the “Wall” where last we left him.
>>131305365you okay?
>>131305362>>131303456if you like the production on Final Cut, listen to Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking. All-star lineup of musicians, same (if not better) production style.
>>131307631YES! I am actually a huge fan of Pros and Cons, and that album shares a lot of the same musicians - most importantly Michael Kamen. For me, The Final Cut has the best warm comfy feels, but Pros and Cons is much more personal and emotional and really maxes out at the end. Clapton's contribution is underrated af, it's supposed to be a road tale and a fever dream and it lands perfectly. Also love Radio KAOS but that's a whole different animal altogether
>>131307084The last sentence, about it being timeless.
>>131307690KAOS is a great album musically, but the storyline is held together with shoestring. Roger could have come up with something better than that. I hope you're listening to the extended version that has like 5 extra songs that were cut from the "official" release
>>131307757I'll stand by my assertion that it doesn't sound like most productions of its time and it makes it hard to pin down an era. I think a naive listener could hear the album and struggle to guess the decade.
>>131307851The saxophone parts are unmistakably 80s.
>>131308114Oh that is a good point. But you trick someone if you skipped the saxes I reckon
>>131307851Sorry anon, I didn't realise you only meant musically. And yeah, you're right – no gated drums or meow synths etc. But the lyrics really take me back to the 80s.
>>131308229oh yeah the Reagan and Maggie shit really dates it but many tracks could be unassuming
>no, its perfect and their best. thank you roger waters aka most talented floyd me-ACK!
>>131308694>still thinking about troons on the tunes boardPathetic.
>>131308792How's your neo-vagina doing?
>>131308420Quite a lot of the lyrics do. But you're right about the music, absolutely timeless. >>131308906Hahaha!!! Welcome. Now try /b/. You'll love it.
>>131300483No. We just don't like Roger so we hate it more than we should.
>>131300483its Rogers best solo album but a bad Pink Floyd album. they arent even on it.Gilmour was a hired session player for the brief solos
>>131307051>Wasn't that just Tiger Broke Free or whatever? When The Tigers Broke Free was recorded during The Wall's sessions, but then released as a single, before the movie came out. However, the single did say it was a track of the upcoming The Final Cut album. They used this tidbit to include it on modern pressings of the record.
>>131307113>kurt wide load huhuhuhuh>—
>>131311529what a fun new dash- – — – - – — – - – —
>>131312218Morse code is for Radio KAOS. this is a Final Cut thread
>>131305365kek
>>131300483It's brilliant. But /mu/ would not understand such lofty concepts. This is a very, very stupid board.
