This is my first thread sobre what's up?
>>
>>131301321
you don't HAVE to always, but your guitar will play like shit if you don't take care of it. My LS-TA that I've had for 3 years plays better than 95% of all the used acoustics that are worth 2x+ more than it. Its because I play mine, keep the freboard oiled, use string fuel on my strings and keep them clean, etc. Everything feels like nicely broken in and it sounds amazing. I pick up guitars that haven't been taken care of and you can easily tell it...
>>
>>131301268

right now im having warble on my open E and open G string. heres a video of it. i run through the open strings, the first five frets on each string, 12th fret and last fret of each string.
what would cause this issue only on those 2 strings? ive gone through most common solutions including pickup height, making sure the saddles are sitting flat, witness points, etc. at about 20 seconds you can see it jumps +40 cents at least

I've been trying to play pinch harmonics for like 2 years and I just now found out that it's actually just a regular harmonic, except you have to play it entirely with your picking hand, since the fretting hand is busy fretting.
Why do pinch harmonic howto's on social media say you have to find "the spot" when there is multiple spots right next to each other that change the tone and also shift their spot based on what fret you're pressing down?
Though, I'm assuming you mostly play the one that makes the tone go up by 2 octaves?
>>
>>131304572
dont have the will power to save enough to buy a gibson
>>
>>131304138
I dont know much about it. I like the look of it though
>>
>>131306270
>why are social media howtos retarded
because they are designed to get views not be good learning materials. it's the equivalent of like 5 minute craft fake microwave cake recipes lol

but yea you are right, there are a lot right next to each other. if you think about where harmonics are on an open string, they are spaced pretty far apart in the middle, and then towards the end there is a patch where there's a whole bunch next to each other. like 2nd-3rd fret kind of area. you're basically aiming to be somewhere in that zone (except by the bridge not the nut ofc) so that you're kinda guaranteed to be hitting a harmonic despite the exact position changing from note to note. most people aren't aiming for an exact pitch every time, they kinda all work since they are by definition harmonically related to the note you're fretting, it's just up to personal choice which you prefer. tho i would say that the 2 octave one (5th/24th fret) is kind of too low a multiple to be in the sweet spot, you kinda want more like the zone of 3 octaves where there's the 7th, 8th, 9th harmonics all close together, or possibly even higher. on bridge pickup with distortion it's normally pretty easy to get them ringing out clearly

someone else may be able to offer better advice, since the styles of music i play these days don't really use pinch harmonics, i just used to be a metalfag when i was like 16

>>
>>131308125
definitely if you do any professional work. if you decide to play jazz classical or bass, all of the best learning material available will also be in standard notation only
>>
>>131308165
>>131308191
I just play as a hobby
>>
>>131308201
then I wouldn’t worry about it to much. you’ll naturally learn theory if you bother to think about what you’re doing occasionally
>>
>>131308201
you should play first and learn later, like how kids learn to talk before they learn to write. you're not gonna need theory to play, but years later if you're still playing or maybe even months later you're gonna be curious because you're gonna want to improvise over tracks or write your own songs. you could do that without theory, but it'll make you wish you knew why things worked and didn't and then you'll be naturally enticed to learn theory.
so don't mind it for now.

Lads, how big of a chance to fuck up my bass do I have if I try to even the frets a bit and lower the action in the saddle by myself? I got this Squier CV and I can't bring the action as low as I wanted to because of some uneven frets. I can do some basic setup but I've never tried going as far as sanding down the frets or anything. Good luthiers are kinda scarce in the shithole that I live in, but I'm aware that fucking something up in the process would force me to visit one anyway. Is it as scary as I think it is?
>>
>>131310935
>saddle
I'm a retard, I meant the nut. I feel like fretting the 1st fret requires too much force.
>>
>>131310964
if you buy the stewmac medium 3 corner file, a crowning file, a fret rocker, and the cheap nut files youll be fine. i always spot level my frets, check them while the bass is tuned, mark them with a permanent marker, file, check with rocker, crown when done. polish everything with fret erasers. the cheap nut files take forever to cut just check often.

How in-depth are we talking? I doubt many here don't think knowing how to build chords from intervals is useless.

Im about 8 months into playing and have played around with writing riffs and lyrics. I have 3 song titles and one with some lyrics are these okay for some death metal? The intro is the weakest part and will be rewritten possibly in whole.

Vulval Saline Injections and Vivisections
(The Pussy Pump Killings)

Clubbed to Death with a Hitachi Massage Wand

Dressed like a whore lyrics

Dresssed like a whore
Licentious and poor
*rewrite intro or add more*

*she wakes up in a lair, expand to one paragraph*

No longer
Dressed like a whore
Stripped of your clothes
So innocent and pure

I thought to myself
This isnt who I loved
You must be left
Dressed like a whore

My slamming fists
Gently paint mascara on your face
Flaying your flesh
Leaving outlines of the lingerie you once wore
*add more here*

As your injuries grow
The love in my cock starts to show
*add more here*

Gouged out eyes
Have left you crippled and blind
These new tight wet holes that I bore
Like the ones between your legs
Of which I fantasized
When you were still
Dressed like a whore

*kill her, with acid in the holes, i forget which serial killer trepenated live victims and poured acid and drain cleaner in the skull, wrap it up quick tho*

*paragraph on body disposal*

Buried in a shallow grave
Your body was found
They found your lewd mangled coutenance
Feeling the love that I once felt
This group of five, dropped their pants
After, white ropes are all that you wore
Once again
Dressed like a whore

since we're posting lyrics now apparently

can't you see me on the floor?
did you ever wonder if there's something more?
once you've found yourself let me know
you can always lose me in the kitchen at parties
one of these days you'll come back to my

warm room
queen of my forgotten tomb
weaving on a broken loom
still waiting to begin
why not stay for dinner
you've been looking awful thin
my dear old friend
let's try to pretend

waiting for nothing to happen again
is it over after something better
wasted on daffodils
dead on the window still
dried up and shriveled out
baked in the sun

can't you see me on my throne?
do you ever wonder if you're all alone?
once you've found yourself let me go
you can always lose me in the kitchen at parties
one of these days i'll crawl back to my

warm room
queen of my forgotten tomb
weaving on a broken loom
still waiting to begin

strung with coarse horse hair
you can ride me at the fun fair
never a part of it
no long term benefit

wrapped up in bandages
killed all the hostages
who's left to bargain with
now that they're gone?

please just stay for dinner
you've been growing oh-so thin
my only friend
not long for the end

waiting for nothing to happen again
is it over after something better
covered in butterflies
bright lights and lullabies
dried out like petal dust
crushed by the sun

hot glue
dripping from the feeding tube
hollowed out and seeping through
those gaps in your skin

saprophytic
sick of staring at a dream
picking words from my screams
to carve into stone <- I don't like this
maybe... to sing on my own? idk
>>
>>131312319
I was thinking of doing with rasps then sanding paper, or saw a bunch of lines then knock them out before sanding. I'll try to see if I can get a hold of a belt sander, though I'm planning a pretty big cut so I imagine I would need to do some heavy lifting with something else before the belt sander. The guitar does have a belly cut already though I do think I'd want to extend it a little. I'm also thinking I'd want to do a little cut on the back right above the neck screws so my thumb would get a bit more access though there, I'm worried about messing up the neck pocket integrity.

Ideally I'd strip the paint completely and then sand it but investing that much time into that and then refinishing already makes my head hurt.

A rasp will chip the finish. A belt sender will work faster than both a rasp and a file. I am speaking from experience. If you have the money it is 100% the way to go. Maybe you can rent one from a hardware store. you can even set up a jig to get a perfectly straight line

I would look towards recording techniques rather than just gear. The rig itself doesn't sound like anything special... to me, a lot of the characteristics in those songs sound like a result of mic placement during recording. A typical setup for recording guitar is to put a microphone right up to the speaker cab. As you place the mic further back, you start to capture more of room acoustics and the sound gets less "in your face" and gets this distant, washed out quality from the natural reverb.

what big muff would you recommend me picking up to pair with my Ram's Head?

I was thinking of having 2 parallel signal paths with one having the Ram Head with more distortion and maybe having the Russian reissue on the other signal set with more low end and less sustain. Or maybe investing on a Blue Violet clone and have both Ram's in a sort of surround sound with one having slight delay or reverb and the other Ram set dry. I didn't like it with the Rat. Rat sounded better pushing the Big Muff instead of having next to the muff.
