ITT: bands in which the lead vocals are the weakest link
>>
>>131301452
Are you the guy who made this >>131300887 thread ?
>>
>>131301458
no, just a happy coincidence :)
>>
>>131301452
with anybody but kiedis on vocals they would be a shitty pop funk band of no repute. kiedis sucks but he's the right kind of suck for their sound. sorta like fagen was for steely dan
>>
>>131301452
They're the worst band regardless of singer
>>131301479
Kiedis sucks shit and so does the rest of them.
>>
>>131301452
Sabbath with Ozzy.
That doesn't mean it didn't work for the music, but objectively the vocals were the weakest link in Ozzy-era Sabbath, compared to the rest, I assume that's what the OP meant, if they weren't trolling.

Moz is the only thing that made them stand out, Muhammad. His voice is incredible
>>
>>131301500
you'll get no argument from me that they suck but the point is that they're not even remarkable enough to describe as bad music without kiedis.
>>
>>131301452
Mastodon, 3 singers and they're all terrible which would be ok if they kept the vocals minimal and buried them in the mix but they have them louder than everything up front and sing over every cool riff that would've made a good instrumental passage
>>
>>131301759
Brent was ok on records. I like his hick Michael McDonald on meth sort of vibe
>>
>>131301458
yes

know what would be kind of cool? if they made a song that was kind of a tribute to California
>>
>>131301908
they would never
>>
>>131301500
I bet you love Mike Patton.
>>
>>131301536

gratuitous assumption, retard

agreed but it's also kind of really important to their sound, Feel the Pain would fucking suck if it was oversang
>>
>>
Pearl Jam. I hate that guy's voice.
>>
Most prog bands not called Yes
>in b4
>>
>>131304177
>inb4ing prog when Devin Townsend exists
you fool
>>
Judas Priest.
>>
>>131304177
Jethro Tull and VDGG have great vocals
I agree about pretty much every other band
>>
>>131304072
there is no weak link in Slint because everything about the music is shit.
>>
>>131301452
there's too many
>>131301519
can't believe i wasn't the only one thinking of this as first
bunch of good logical answer in this thread
like jethro tull
also thinking of tool

>>131304152
vedder definitely can sing no matter what you think
he has a good voice
>>
>>131306531
vedder's voice is one of the worst thing the 90s gave us.
hunger dunger dang oooyeah
>>
>>131306620
he's a great singer
one of the best even
>>
>>131306638
no.
>>
>>131301452
Sonic Youth
>>
>>131306860
Yes.
>>
>>131302247
Not at all. RHCP is just the worst band in existence
>>131302374
You never said I was wrong, dipshit
>>
>>131307148
even if I were to grant that vedder is a great singer, and I don't, calling him one of the best of all time is completely retarded.
if you suck his dick that hard all you're gonna achieve is a mouth full of cum and nobody taking any of your opinions seriously.
>>
>>131307140
Thurston is uniquely terrible but I don’t hate his voice, just his singing
>>
>>131301515
Bill Ward wasn't bad but he wasn't that great either imo, gets overshadowed by Paice and Bonham hard. And while Ozzy wasn't technically as proficient as say Dio being a front-man to a rock band is about more than just that. I couldn't be paid to listen through a Dio album and I'd say culturally Ozzy had way more of an impact in the end.
>>
Queen
>>
>>131307456
I think Ozzys mournful wailing was perfect for early Sabbath
>>
Rush
>>
>>131301500
come on now, I can't stand RHCP's music any more than the next person, but pretending that Flea isn't a great bassist, that Chad Smith is a bad drummer, and that Frusciante isn't tonally gifted to say the least is imo a bit disingenuous.
>>
>>131301452
Tons of metal bands
>>
>>131307617
get the fuck out of here
>>
>>131307611
the thing about frusciante is that if you've heard him on one RHCP song you've heard him on every RHCP song. He's extremely limited as a player, at least in that band. never listened to his solo shit but I hear it gets out there
>>
>>131304177
Jon Anderson sucks, his voice is annoying
>>
>>131301515
ozzy is my favorite singer even tho he probably technically isn't best
>>
>>131308472
I mean you could say the same about Adam Jones in Tool, to which I'd say that just because the horse is dead doesn't mean it cannot take a good beating.
>>
>>131308674
in after
