I create songs with AI. Do I count as a musician and and artist? Why or why not?
>>
>Do I count as a musician
no
>and and artist?
a shitty one
>>
Not a musician because you can't play an instrument or properly use sound producing techniques. You're basically inputing words into an engine, just like saying "chicken tendies" doesn't make you a cook.
Even less of an artist, you're an anti-artist, because everything the AI is able to output is a blend of stolen songs actually written and produced by actual humans.

Making microwave chicken tendies would be to cooking to music making equivalence like a beginner playing a song from an easy cover song tab. Playing Wonderwall badly with a cheat sheet and saying you are a musician, technically true. OP is ordering a meal at the restaurant and asking if that makes him a chef. Pic unrelated.

Yes and yes, obviously. You are a musician playing an (unconventional) instrument. Music is art. Composing and producing music makes you some sort of artist.
I'm not going to disingenuously bend or ignore the meaning of words just because I feel a certain way about your art, that's ridiculous. Reminds me of all those people that were utterly mindraped by the banana taped to the wall.
>>
You should be killed. Actually executed. Everyone who has ever used AI should die.
>>
>>131340547
>Musician
No. AI is the musician.
>Artist
See Musician
>Composer
That depends on what you actually produce. If you put no effort into it and let AI do all the work then you're a talentless dilettante. Like everything else in life, what you get out depends on what you put in, and if you don't have anything different to add to the process, you're basically copying other peoples work. You can compose with AI, but it takes just as much effort as not using AI to get anything worthwhile.
>>
>>131340547
Yes and yes. You'll be regarded as the precursor of many future AI musicians, you will be like grandmaster flash and krs one.
>>
>>131340730
AI music is art. If AI artists don't create the songs, then they wouldn't exist. Therefore the songs have been created by the AI artist.

If I ask a carpenter to build me a chair, would you say I built a chair?
This is not an open-ended question. There is one correct response and any other answer exposes you as retarded. Think carefully.
>>
>>131340854
>I'm not going to disingenuously bend or ignore the meaning of words
That's exactly what you're doing though
At best you can say someone who tells AI to make music for them is a producer and even that's a stretch because generally a producer does more than just bump some coke hit the talk back mic and say "okay now make a blues in Eb with some shuffle percussion"

If I didn't order a meal at The French Laundry, it wouldn't have existed, so that makes me a world-class chef
>>
>>131340547
No los3r
>>
>>131341319
If you weren't trying to convince me with your shitty arguments, your post wouldn't exist, so actually I'm the one who made all your posts and if you win the argument that means actually I won the argument.
I accept your concession.
>>
>>131340547
>Do I count as a musician and and artist?
nope

>Why or why not?
because you don't actually know anything about music. you can't play any instruments, you know 0 theory, you have 0 idea how to create a captivating melody. someone else could have typed in the same words to the prompt and get the same exact thing.

>b-b-but it's a useful tool!
here's the thing about that: you take away the AI and a competent musician could still create music without it. (You) however cannot. the tool is everything to you. and it's why you spend so much time shilling it.
>>
>>131340547
Yes, as good as any in 2026.
>>
tell us about your creative process anon. how did you create your art and what inspirations did you take to make your songs sound the way they do? how long have you been making "AI art" and what separates you from other "AI artists"?
>>
>>131341319
AI music are soulless mathematical formulas that imitates and somewhat resembles true human expression

I type in the prompt and then I hit generate and the song is made
>>
>>131342314
I google search and a song just appears I am a true artiste
>>
Is there a single board on this site that isn't getting spammed with sanctioned aislop threads?
>>
>>131342905
No, because AI is the future. Get with AI or be left behind.
>>
>>131340547
42k of dogshit AI slop songs that no one (probably not even you) have ever listened to and will never listen to
>>
>>131343139
At least they exist.
>>
>>131343317
That's not a good thing. the existence of more low effort slop in the world is not an improvement on it not existing.
>>
>>131341319
If you commission an artist to make you a painting, you didn't make anything. You told him what to make and funded him to do so, but you still didn't make anything. You commissioned a robot to generate something for you, and that's it
>>
>>131343335
If some chap, bored at work, tries suno and develops an interest in music production- they will be walled by suno's incompetence at improving- that bundle of notes in their imagination screaming to exist- and they will feel anguish in that song-their song- cannot be made by ai.
>>
>>131343130
the force and frequency with which AI shills spout this line smacks of desperation. it's a clear sign that the supposed inevitability of genAI isn't as inevitable as shills want people to believe.
at no point was it necessary to shill smartphones this hard. or the internet. or computers. or television. or the radio.
you know what it reminds me of? obnoxious retards saying the same thing about VR gaming and 3D TVs, which turned out to be gimmicks that the general public had no real interest in. only difference this time is the amount of money behind the gimmick in question.
>>
>>131343367
The artist wouldn't have made my painting if I didn't tell him to. in a very real way I am more responsible for the design and creation of the painting than the artist, who only brought their mechanical skill to the affair. Thus in your scenario, I made the painting.

>the worker owns the product
And just like that the mask comes off. AI Derangement Syndrome is just a branch of communism.

Did Donald Fagen and Walter Becker make Gaucho?
Most of the music was actually written and performed by studio musicians. Fagen and Becker just told them to try again over and over until they got what they wanted.
Sounds no different from Suno to me.
