country is Blues + Folk so in a way you couldn’t have country as we know it without the AA influence
>>
>>131343220
Cowboy Carter was a trojan horse to get Beyoncé another win in the cultural zeitgeist to be relevant and on top of trends. The whole thing was a giant marketing scheme to expand her influence and resume of accolades. Every time she reinvents herself she says nothing of it and just moves on to the next 'era'. It's classic pop music cannibalism of scenes and accounts to make a dollar. Country music was popular so she told everyone 'IM FROM TEXAS I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC ACTUALLY AND I WAS THERE FIRST' and everyone had to agree cause she's positioned herself as the queen that can't be criticized.
>>
>>131344192
>trojan horse
I see what you did there
>>
>>131344118
remember /mu/ if you use any form of 'who?' when a known artist is being talked about you are outing yourself for what you really are, being ignorant to other artists criticism of your abortive is childish and reveals how uncultured you are
>>
>>131344192
If country music as a genre wasn't so heavily commercialised to the point of already being fused with R&B/hip-hop rhythms then maybe you'd have a point.
>>
>>131343220
Another slimy journalist set up a senior citizen with a horrible line of questioning. Never give in to these cretins. They win every time.
>>
>>131343240
someone who hasn't done anything of note in this century. i don't like beyonce but galas has been irrelevant for a very long time and it clearly has gotten to her
>>
>>131344183
it's from bluegrass which is basically celtic folk but I guess the nigs made the first banjos
>>
>>131344236
then why was she so desperate to become country and taken seriously in those circles? galas was right that the album isn't even country music, it's a soul record wearing a cowboy hat
>>
I don't see the problem. Everyone and their mom has been appropriating other people's culture since forever. Note that I don't think it's inherently bad, it's just how it is. If it happens to make a snobby cunt who discovered jazz last week seethe, that just makes it even better.
>>
>>131344301
beyonce has only ever been relevant to the normie morons. galas has an actual artistic legacy, it doesn't matter where she stands now, it's already been cemented. whereas beyonce won't be anything at all once her star fades.
>>
>>131343220
>bingo music
ALERT new genre dropped
>>
>>131343220
Galas was already cool in my book because she hated and despised Mike Patton and how he was imitating her with his screeches. The most retarded part is they were both friends with (((john zorn))) and maybe even ended up together on the same record.
>>
>>131343220
she's right
>>
>>131344415
Apples and oranges really, but Galas will never be anywhere near Beyonce or Hank Williams III, to cite both sides of the spectrum. She's just a rich nepo that had enough money and connections to LARP as a singer. Her cultural relevance was negligible at its peak and she simply doesn't represent anybody. At least Beyonce is one of the top names in R&B, which for better or worse carries massive cultural significance. If she wants to destroy country songs and shoehorn them into soul, she has all the authority to do it. John Scofield did the exact same schtick back in 2015 and no one gave him shit for it. Perhaps because he's white (or Irish as Americans say) or because he doesn't earn between 3.5 and 5 millies per concert. Which one could it be?
>>
>>131343220
I mean, I think Beyonce is pretty overrated as a solo artist, but "black imperialism" is a bizarre way to dsecribe a country album with features from Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus and Post Malone. It's just a cynical attempt to chase trends because hip-hop and R&B aren't at peak popularity anymore and the labels are trying to make country into their next pet project. It's the equivalent of Rod Stewart doing disco in 1978 or Garth Brooks doing post-grunge in 1999.
>>
>>131344374
>then why was she so desperate to become country and taken seriously in those circles?
Because the media had been hyping her up as a Serious And Important Artist for the past decade, and it would hurt her image if her new genre didn't accept her as such.
>>
as a black man i completely support based queen diamanda. OUR GIRL.
>>
>>131343220
Damn not many based women in the world today so kudos to her
>>
>>131344312
bluegrass sounds old but started in the 40s with bill monroe. country is older. but both derive from celtic folk, yes. but to say blues is not present in country would mean Hank Williams doesn't exist. so you need to shut up about shit you don't know instead of making guesses about how old bluegrass is, dumbass.
>>
>>131344374
If bands like Florida Georgia Line and Morgan Wallen can be taken seriously within the realm of country music despite their constant use of R&B/hip-hop beats and getting rappers to do guest spots on their sings, why can't Beyoncé be allowed to do the same thing in reverse? Or Lil Nas X for that matter?

celtic folk is gay without the blues influence
>>
Goth culture was always white, maybe Chicano slipped into it if you were in California or Texas. I think the zeitgeist is turning, and people will be more critical of “black culture” without getting labeled racist. The last decade of pc culture, me too, and cancel culture dominating is Joeover.
>>
galas is shit music in the same vein of nick cave, swans
>>
>>131345696
you're gay with no influence at all

Giga based
>>
>>131343220
hahaha that's pretty fucking funny.
STILL not as brutal a takedown of Beyonce as Donald Glover's show Swar tho
>>
>>131345466
because it's degrading of her considering she transformed from a typical r&b singer to a 'serious artist' with 'something to say', country is commercially successful but I wouldn't call the people liking those artists serious music fans, rather social people who need music to go out, Beyoncé just needed to increase the size of her ego and influence and deepen her pockets so she made a faux country record cause she's from Texas and felt insecure about nobody turning to her to make country music
>>
>>131345658
This goes to show how bankrupt that site is in terms of music writing content. These sad small people have nowhere else to exert their power in life so they take a swipe at an artist through fake reviews. Would they have ever reviewed her music seriously? Doesn't matter, now it's just a way to virtue signal that they're morally correct. Disgusting.
>>
>>131344415
unfortunately Beyoncé will be relevant to a large swath of people for a lifetime, shame that people will never engage with galas' music and now she's being relegated to a 'who?' to many people who treat music as a parasocial high school simulator
>>
>>131344377
the problem isnt appropriation she made a fucking gay club house album right before cowboy carter after never engaging with that music artistically until the market showed itself, it's Beyonce claiming she was to be taken seriously as a country musician and not even doing the work to emulate country, just making a bastardized version that had to be accepted in the annals of country history because she wanted it to be that way because she felt slighted by the industry and needed to 'prove them wrong', she didn't even try to prove them wrong she just made her music called on a few famous friends and made a record that had to be called something it never was
>>
>>131345696
if you honestly think that then you're a soulless pleb
>>
>>131343220
diamanda galas is pretentious and retarded as fuck, there's actually nothing genius about screeching in an annoying way on purpose
>>
>>131347660
that's correct, but she's highly regarded by goths and music critics who will now have to choose between her and the nigress
