Is it actually better than Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock?
>>131379036Better than Spirit of Eden. On par with Laughing Stock.
yes because they were still writing pop songs and not just vibes music
>>131379228>vibes musicWhat a complete retard
>>131379036It's a pop masterpiece and still not even a top 3 Mark Hollis' album, that's how genius he was.
great album, but no
>>131379343Even the other two went on to make great albums of their own with 'o'rang and Bark Psychosis.
>>131379392As far as I love Hex and consider it to be on the same level as late Talk Talk, I'm not a fan of their second album with Lee Harris.
>>131379410Damn it's the opposite for me. I rarely ever put Hex on whereas Codename Dustsucker always comes back around for a visit in my monthly listens. But I can see how it's a little less ''alien'' and shares a few elements with the trip hop and already established 2nd/3rd wave post rock conventions of the early 2000s that might take away from its initial mystique for somebody. Like you could map out that C:D and, say, Bowery Electric are within the same vicinity whereas you'd need to cross a bridge to get to the Talk Talk/Hex side of the musical suburbs, if that makes sense.
>>131379036Yes.The latter two are incel music
>>131379711I just wish that they made more stuff like Pendulum Man, literally one of the best music pieces ever.
>>131379036those are shit albums
>>131379711I'm complete opposite, CD is something I occasionally come back to but it never comes fully formed like Hex does, which I consider top five material.Speaking of BP, I've got a ton of demos/early versions from the Hex era as well as rare gig recordings that were never officially released - does anyone know if they're on Soulseek or private trackers? If not, I can upload them here
>>131385181>I can upload them hereHell yeah nigga. Save this board.
>>131385181please do
>>131385181I hope you didn't troll us mf
>>131385181Keeping the (c)(h)ope alive
>>131391256Fuck, bumping with some random bullshit idk
>>131385400>>131385559>>131388649>>131391256Sorry went to bed early. Not trolling, here's the contents of the Hex-era demos collection, gonna upload now. Some of the tracks are incorrectly titled from the original uploader, mind you - meant to clean and tidy it all up but hadn't got around to it yet.

>>131392040The last of the real niggas on /mu/. Salute.
>>131392988Np my man. Here's the rest of what I have, inc. the rare live shows - though I believe some or all of these have been uploaded on YT in the last few years
>>131392040What a hero
Hijacking this thread to ask this: do we know why Graham Sutton stopped making music of his own for the last 20 years and stuck with handling producing duties ever since C:D came out? It doesn't seem to be a Mark Hollis situation where he just felt like he said everything he needed to say and retired from music altogether.
>>131399483Unlike Mark Hollis, which kept improving his work until Laughing Stock (plus his great solo album), Graham Sutton knows that he'll never reach the heights of Hex ever again. Codename: Dustsucker was a nice record, but without the previous members, even with the help of Lee Harris couldn't replicate the magic.
>>131399512Sure, but he could have just kept composing music under different names. That Boymerang project was cool. It's his life of course but he was clearly talented and a few more displays of it wouldn't hurt.
