I think it might have been the last ''genre'' that captured genuine optimism in its sound without a shred of irony in it. That's what I get from going back to it at least.
>>
This album came out right after I graduated college and everything sucked but the music was good and everything was sorta cheap then for a 24 year old.
>>
I wanna go back

I saw a show at Bates college in Maine in 2010 that was Small Black, Washed Out, and Toro Y Moi, shit was such a stacked line up
https://youtu.be/ceSm5JeOOTI
That first Toro album was the first one for me. I remember hearing the first 10 seconds of Blessa and needing to run it back already. Taught a lot of us dumb hipster dorks what sidechain compression was and we all abused it for a few years. Terminally Chill still sounds just as fire as it did back then. Chillwave was legendary man, definitely one of the best eras of music that I've experienced in my lifetime so far.
>>131387372
one of the best tracks to come out of the whole shit

Terminally Chill is my favorite track of all chillwave
>>
>>131388907
yeah all things considered it's probably just objectively the best lol. I might say Blessa as my subjective pick

i don’t know about all that… certainly not as a blanket rule… ERA EXTRANA is one of the more crushing and most emotionally drained albums of the entire 2010s
