Listened to Stella a few years ago on a whim (the cover art is evocative and it seemed decently well-liked, which were enough) and loved it, feels like pop from mars
That one song is also the third on the album and I got jumpscared by it lol
>So this is where it comes from!

I found them through that but fell in love with their stuff after hearing their score to Ford Fairlane (which was an early instrumental of their album Baby).

Crazy how these guys were signed to The Residents' label for their first few albums. Those boys missed out on a nice payday

Yello were my favorite group for a while but I think they really suffer from the same issue a lot of avant-garde artists do. Which is that they start off so committed to a futuristic, progressive sound that they end up flanderizing themselves later in their career. By the time you get to One Second, you've heard every idea Boris Blank can think of and the rest is just Deiter Meier going full retard. Without Carlos PerĂ³n they had nowhere to go.

That song they made during Covid, Waba Duba, is literally something you'd hear from Modeselektor or some other cheesy techno band. It lacks the surrealist suave of Oh Yeah, which is especially ironic because that song was itself trying to replicate the vibe of their first three albums to no avail.

I feel like the people ITT would like these songs. each sound is a sample of a noise that an animal makes, not necessarily with their mouth, I think there's a bunch of invertebrate noises and stuff. clicks whistles and whatnot. these were originally the two sides of the single to this album.

The biggest nonce vibes a band has ever given me, righ behind Heavy Breathing

Brutal but a pretty good take, I feel the same when I listen to bands that were ahead of the curve and then falter completely in their later career.

Fond memories of hearing it in chocolate ads

Watched the actual movie the other day, they play that song twice, and still kept it and "Walking on Sunshine" off of the soundtrack. I wonder if it was a money thing.
