Does /mu/ like hardcore punk/other -core genres? I hardly ever see threads about new stuff coming out despite it being one of the biggest underground music subcultures as of late

i ran a diy venue for about a decade until last year, we had lots of hardcore shows. Whenever we had a bigger band like Bib or something the place would fill up with 200 of the most annoying macho bro hxc dudes, I had to stop booking them. I like hardcore a lot but the scene lacked the diy ethos, they'd always trash the place and start fights and shit

Fair enough, although I imagine that kinda stuff just depends on your locality, my scene is pretty good as far as venues and general vibes but maybe that's cause it isn't super huge right now

surely there's enough people here that can appreciate the value of live music
>>
I like hardcore but I must be old now because I think almost every current band is just ripping off what came before. Like why would anyone listen to pain of truth when they are a carbon copy of madball?

for sure, for punk stuff that I wouldn't classify as hardcore the scene here is really respectful. The most respectful in that world are the crust punks, the organizers always helped out so much and even brought a ton of home made food selling plates for 5 bucks lol. Once you get into like, macho hardcore territory that all starts to fall apart though, at least here. S2g we'd barely promote these shows and they'd flock to the venue lol. I feel like a majority of them were coming from the burbs cuz they'd all be people I never saw around otherwise

Used to I had a minor taste for it. Even played in a small-time "fun"-band. More notorious for being shitty at playing and borrowing a new drummer from other bands at the shows we played. I try to keep up with what is happening in the local scene, but that is really hard to do without social media, and as one stated, not "going out" much.
That it is being the "largest underground scene" I find to not be true, at least it is not here. We are still stuck with older men/women trying to "revive their dead careers", and the scenes here (It being a small country we still have some smaller 3-4 variant cities) is just an "incestous gang bang" of the same musicians playing all sorts of styles in all sorts of different shades of mass non-appeal. Black Metal seem to be the more dominant here in the underground scenes from what I see. And honest, I am not looking for Black Metal shows to stand and scowl at... Any given day though, if screamo/emoviolence/post-hardcore had a "proper" return here, I would probably be lured from the "safety of the cave"

I like emocore
