We are officially in the late 2020s, this is the end game folks. What a shitty decade its been for music. Zoomers have yet to come up with a new subculture, genre, or idea. seems like they just gave up, i dont have hope for gen alpha, but zoomers were a real disappointment
>>131422878The 0 year of a decade is really the last year of the previous decade. Thus 1990 was the last year of the 80s, 2000 the last year of the 90s, and 2020 the last year of the 2010s.
>>131422977no one thinks like that except spergs. like you
>>131423000They do, it's called the 1-to-10 rule. Not that you would know that, seeing as you waste your time bitching about zoomers on an anonymous image board, faggot.
>>131423045who cares about some made up rule for spergs, also you cant prove me wrong, zoomers are cultural failures
there are new ideas but you aren't tapped in to where zoomers share those ideas
>>131422878Stupid ass COVID ruined everything.
>>131422878>produce nothing and only want what they see on TikTokZoomers are truly the goyim generation created to replace boomers kek.
>>131422878I say this over and over. Digicore, Terror Plugg, Sigilkore and HexD were new but shit. No mainstream potential. Basically everywhere except this board gave up on innovation except rare exceptions. This was also a problem with rock in 2010s outside of Blackgaze. We don't have a new subculture because everything has been absorbed into """""""the underground"""""'"""" or it's a collection of TikTok, Roblox or Discord microniches. Combine that with The Pandemic and a bunch of earliest rappers dying really young (XXXTentacion, Juice WRLD, Lil Keed, Pop Smoke, Luci4, even Indie guys like Wifiskeleton and Bl4ck market c4rt). We were fucked from the start. Combine that over saturation of shit, a more vile embrace of meme rap than in the 2010s and how corrupt the whole TikTok driven system is (paid promo, chaotic good shilling, rat race through short form content) as well as the fascist cringe culture tyranny that the rage side of """"the underground""' holds over TikTok then you can get an idea of fucked the whole thing is. It's like watching a decaying empire failing to function while it's citizens rot. The only way to beat this is either for American Zoomers (I can't do this shit from Australia I don't have the connections and reach fuck off) to form a local scene with the deliberate intent of creating a new sound or counter culture. Which can then be posted on TikTok and then a new band can step in and create a mainstream version of that imo.Either that or you pray sometimes between this year or 2028 that a kid born in 2010 swings the pendulum in rage. Either or I fucking guess.Good luck trying to reach 99% of my generation. They don't see the problem with larping old subcultures and how it affects the health of the culture.

>>131423062>>131423101I have a middle ground approach as someone who is Gen Z. See below.>>131423381
>>131423383>"""""Brazilian""""" """""Phonk"""" with """'Analog Horror""""" and spooky 6/7 memes that died last yearFuck off
>>131423249uhh not particularly because historically artistic output peaks during times of hardship and yet..?
>>131422878>>131423381>>131423394Linking my own posts but I'm telling you all that I have been trying since 2024 but music is too shit and I only just got involved with TikTok last month. You have to drop the ego and use TikTok. I think Cashfunds333 has some good videos on that shit. These promo demons are spamming Lyric videos, memes and other shit with their songs uploaded to Spotify. Posting snippets as well. The aim is to get people to use their sound through the app to rack up Spotify streams.
>>131423412People were cut off from meeting each other in real life and eco systems were built around it. Tiktok is also a fucking rat race to build hype in. You can post several snippets over several days but you will only get 100 views or some shit like that. YouTube or SoundCloud is even worse. Discord self promo is a death sentence is a death sentence as 5 minutes later someone else will flood that shit trying to get a single play on any server. The thing that's missing to me is that the people who are already famous should step their fucking game up but I'm a lazy bum in that regard.
>>131423381>>131423423you talk like a fag and your shit's all retarded.no wonder zoomers can't have their own culture, they can't even talk or write anything that makes sense like a normal human being
>>131423000>>131423062Is there a year 0? No? Then the decade starts at 1. Therefore it goes from 1 to 10.
2020s have been very dry, at least in mainstream culture and popular indie. Probably really have to dig to find anything. People care more about politics and money than anything else now so that gets more focus than music, or the music is attached to some dumb cause. Always been stuff like that I guess though, so whatever. Also that fucking AI shit. Jesus thats ruined bandcamp
>>131422878>Zoomers have yet to come up with a new subculture, genre, or ideaso? theres so much stuff thats been done that didnt get enough attention nor time to develop. lets bring those things back :)
>>131424413mainstream and popular indie was always shit unless youre a drone. you guys just miss having a monoculture source like mtv, pitchfork, fantano etc to tell you what to listen to
>>131424435Maybe so, but it wasn't all shit. There was always something interesting breaking through. And Pitchfork indie at least had a real community to it vs algorithm recs. 2010s-2020s scenes are very internet centric or EDM/sample based stuff like vaporwave and what not, which is cool in a way, but also harder to perform live. Now there's less venues overall, harder to start a rock band, so you have less of that indie scene infrastructure that allowed something like pitchfork or alternative rock radio to even matter. Idk I feel like that's been lost more, the community aspet of music and live raw feeling experience, in our generation vs old scenes. And then fucking AI music...go on bandcamp and look up your local city or genre and you have to wade through this utter dogshit clanker trash
>>131424413the shit you liked just died bro we're on indie sleaze rn
>>131424467listen to the helpp and the dare
>>131424467You can do electronic stuff live, its just different.>rock band infrastructureYeah, not as strong as it was, but nothing stopping people from dicking around with their friends and doing open mics>AI musicI agree, this is bullshit
>>131424476zased
>>131423381juice wrld is the funniest case of black parents trying to milk their dead sons fame
>>131423381>We don't have a new subculture because everything has been absorbed into """""""the underground"""""'"""" or it's a collection of TikTok, Roblox or Discord microniches. That's all that's left. The broad strokes of what can a.) be done with current instruments/technology/etc. and b.) sound pleasant enough to appeal to a wide group of the population has all been done already.
>WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH WHY ISNT RADIO TELLING ME ALL THE MAINSTREAM SLOPPA I SHOULD LISTEN TO AIIIEEEEEE NOOOOOO I CANT LISTEN TO THIS GUY HE ONLY HAS 10 MILLION SPOTIFY LISTENERS THATS NOT COOOOOOOL!
>>131422878>Zoomers have yet to come up with a new subculture, genre, or idea. True, but they didn't fail to create subcultures out of a lack of creativity. The infrastructure of the modern internet actively prevents it. Social media fractured the culture/sub-culture structure. This was predicted, and musically demonstrated by "Vaporwave" in the early 2010's.
>>131424064Dude you are missing a lot of cultural context from the crap I spilled. I talk like a fag but I promise you there are still plenty of ruthless people
>>131424862I feel like what happenes next is the ultimatum. If cringe culture disappears and if SoundCloud rap is no longer cool then I think it could open the floodgates.
>>131424413>>131422878Who cares about mainstream? Spotify charts are heavily botted
>>131424987Vaporwave was the musical "End of History". There is no "next thing" because social media algorithms have fractured the collective consciousness into hyper-individualized echo chambers. A subculture requires a shared physical or digital space to grow. When everyone has a uniquely tailored feed, culture can no longer move forward, it can only endlessly loop and remix its own past, which Vaporwave symbolized brilliantly.
>>131422878I can agree that zoomers don't have much but why haven't older generations done much either this decade?
January 2025 was the start of the late 2020s
ITT geriatric millennials screaming at clouds.
>>131422878Olivia Rodrigo is generational talent like Lady Gaga. I was on a binge of her music and she is so underappreciated and she even had a top 5 festival of the decade this year.
>>131426743>generational talentYet another term that has lost all useful meaning.
