Gordon appeals to pseuds because it requires knowledge of past sub-culture music tropes to get the joke, which makes pseuds feel smart because they get the reference.

It’s parody music for people that feel superior to everybody else. Every one of the songs I’ve heard from this guy he has a deep hatred and smugness against what he’s parodying. To pretend he’s even on the level of Weird Al is a sin. And if you ever saw his terrible skits he did before doing these shitty songs you’d know that he has always been this way.
