He is actually, completely unironically a once-in-a-lifetime musical genius
>>131426546congratulations

>>131426546geniuses don't fall off like he did, he had 10 years of good ideas
>>131426599>knob twiddler at bestis this a early 2010s Youtube comment section?
>>131426546He is in his own league, but man a lot of his output is kinda boring and dull. His peaks are classics though
>>131426685this. though it is bound to happen when you're that invested in subgenres that aged like milk.why are midwits so unfatuated with this guy? is it the custom microtuning? he could fart in a mic and redditard will sniff it as long the fart notes have the proper scala file
Ultimate midwit artist. Jacob Collier of the 90s.
he insists upon himself. his music was carried by the music technology of the time
>>131428699he was the only one doing decent weird/industrial tracks when rave/techno exploded, while everybody else was doing basic bitch stuff. he was the introduction into EDM for metalheads, rock listeners, etc. right place, right time
knob diddler at best
>>131426770time traveler confirmed
>>131426685>he had 10 years of good ideasmajority of musicians don't get even half that
>>131426599only song i can remember is milkman and that's because of the flash cartoon by david firth. and even then i didn't learn it was aphex twin until like 2 years ago
>>131426546thought this was trent reznor from the thumbnail and was inclined to agree. not so sure about richard though
So many other people have done what he has but much better.
>>131426546Respect. With Mr. James, it is whole considered and not the many individual parts that make it. He is a generalist who schools most of the specialists that counts as his peers. I would reject the term genius though, since it carries a lot of unpleasant and misleading baggage. RDJ didn't invent anything, and borrowed ideas from many equally talented producers, but what he did with those influences was indeed unique to him. He has made very special music throughout his career, starting from the very beginning, take this incredible track for an example:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=S5UBYOv1G9APic somewhat related. For context, before recent advances in music software and computer technology, electronic music instruments, the interesting ones at least, were incredibly expensive, prohibitively so to the people most interested in them: young men.
