>Yippee!Pink Floyd's early stuff was pretty lame huh. I'm going through their discography for the first time and I have to say this and A Saucerful of Secrets just isn't hitting. I like prog and psych rock too so imagine my surprise. For example, I immediately got into Soft Machine. Did they click for you upon first listening or do things start clicking more in the 70s?
>>131435193Yes, it is quite lame. Interstellar Overdrive is nice though. It's strange how Syd is sat on this high pedestal when his output with PF is pretty mid
>>131435193>>131435211Oh boy another Syd Barrett hate thread
>Soft MachineIt's not a fair comparison, Wyatt and Ayers shit on anything prog
>>131435211I'm new to all of this but yeah I had no idea he was only really on their debut. I was under the impression that he did way more than what I was lead to believe. I know Wish You Were Here was dedicated to him too so that makes it all the more puzzling when looking at it as an outsider. But I guess they were really really close with Syd outside the whole music angle.
>>131435242My comment is genuine, maybe I'll listen to his solo records
>>131435255Ayers was even a Syd Barrett fanboy
>>131435433After Bowie wanted to be Anthony Newley, he wanted to be Syd Barrett
>>131435193syd-floyd sucked and i'm tired of pretending otherwise. maybe 5-8 songs MAXIMUM that were actually good and became influential to pf's later sound. the rest was acid-era beatles wannabe wankery. syd sucked then and he sucks forever.
>>131436256OP here.Yeah it's like all downhill after Matilda Mother for me.
