How come so much music in the 90s and early 2000s was rallying everyone against the man. Now everyone does whatever big corporations and tv tells them to and just listens to the man.
>>
>>131483324
Raging against the man was fucking cringe to be desu with you desu senpai
>>
>>131483324
All that rallying against the man was controlled opposition
>>
>>131483324
You will never guess who has become "the man", the oppressive entity that is everywhere and nowhere simultaneously. You will absolutely not believe it.
>>
>>131483324
Define "the"
>>
>>131483324
>>131483342
This "raging against the man" is racist microagresson if you oppose Capitalism you're most liekly a pasty white nazi pedo
>>
>>131483324
(((the man)))
>>
>>131483324
the man assumes gender and we don't do that anymore, sweaty
>>
>>131483324
- GWOT and the accompanying media blitz. Supposedly 'the man' was now the only thing protecting you from another 9/11 on your doorstep.
- 2008 financial crisis and its ongoing consequences. Narrowing the horizons of what people ought aspire to in their lives besides consumption and grasping for a bit more personal wealth.
- Recuperation of political anger by a ruling class losing its grip on an unstable society. Politicians and corporations making revolt, protest, and liberation into brands you buy from them, drowning out any demands that actually threaten their bottom line.
- Closing of ranks and intensified crackdowns by said class and its media. E.g. the past few years of scrambling to stave off the inevitable reckoning on Israel support.
>>
But who was man?
>>
>>131483775
zog
>>
>>131483324
Because back then the corporations had so much control they could make you rage against the man of their choosing. Now they have to walk carefully.

Back then. For me it was the government. Any side of it was wrong and fucked up.
>>
>>131483324
The man got turned around from an abstract concept to your fellow citizen so you can keep eating each other alive while the real big dawgs fuck you up the ass at all times. Now it's about killing chuds/libs/nazis/nigs/arabs/zigs/insert demographic group here as opposed to asking your representative about why he passed this bill that guarantees you and your offspring will get soulsucked for next 50 years. The gap between the people and tptb has never been this wide, and it's gonna keep stretching because they hold all of the technological tools in their hands. People mock shit like rock against bush now but at least those people weren't actively concerned with cutting off your personal livelihood because you took care of your iraq vet sibling, they were looking upward.
>>
>>131484055
>>131483954
OKAY SO HOW CAN WE GET BACK TO FIGHTING AGAINST THE MAN. Following covid shit was like the biggest listening to the man in history.
>>
>>131483775
>>
>>131483324
because the 90s were the peak of civilization. we had all our immediate needs solved so we could focus on the discretionary ones.
>>
>>131484140
Everyone's brains zapped by a neverending stream of digressions, trash, lies, diversions, meds, hysteria, ai-induced psychosis...until people's minds revert back to a decently operational status you can't hope for anything to happen. It's like allowing your brain -a muscle- to heal from gazillion microcuts at once, much like rest would allow your tissues to heal from the damage done by intense workouts. Niggas are sore and numb.
>>
>>131483324
Kanye rallied everyone against the man and you all shit on him for it because Fantano told you to.
>>
>>131484539
no he fucking didn't lmao he had a manic episode that lasted a couple months
>>
>>131483324
I wouldn't even call that album anti-establishment at all, BJM and Anton Newcombe just like their edge points from time to time. It's straight 60s revival psychedelic rock. Pic related is a popular shirt they sell at their concerts. You'd expect some sort of really intense hardcore from the name The Brian Jonestown Massacre but it's just mellow opiumcore
>>
>>131484539
Going on /pol/-tier rants about da Jooz because he forgot to take his meds counts as a rally?
>>
>>131484539
>falling this hard for a retarded controlled opposition scheme
Way to go

One small step for man, one giant leap for man.

TIFTM is such an expectational middle of the heat and haze summer record. The title track basically carries the tone OP is aiming at. There's BSA and In My Life, a few other tracks, but other than that, it's a solid test of nfg rock'n'roll. I don't think it's their best record during that year but it's totally solid and arguable.

Personally, I believe My Bloody Underground is the tone OP should of set out for, that was the pivotal record that adapted to the climate of DYI that is most relevant to today, there was a genuine reach into grander wild west territory regarding the internet, the fuck you moments are in turn most unique. TIFTM sounds like an relic, the unmined gem.

He's right, it sounds like shit and the songwriting is bad. Being harsh and more inaccessible isn't immediately disqualifying, but it also doesn't make something immediately good as some might have you believe.

Everyone realized the man was kind of sexy and had a girthy meaty yummy cock

as long as "the man" was a white christian wasp it was perfectly acceptable to (((rage))) against him, now that "the man" is actually (((the man))) it's instead time to fight your neighbor with (((identity politics))) while you both live in abject poverty

Because in the era of XIlennial Boomers, the man was just every adult in politics, back then poilitics were just for boring old people. But today now that people borned in the 1990s and 2000s are the politicians, people are picking their faction.

>More so than the album's overall malaise and inconsistency, it's this ridiculous (and in some cases, offensive) attempt at "edginess" that's most off-putting. Stunts like naming the album's first track "Bring Me the Head of Paul McCartney on Heather Mills' Wooden Peg (Dropping Bombs on the White House)", or calling one of Underground's high points "Automatic Faggot for the People" are the sort of look-at-me tactics that one would hope would be beneath a 40-year-old. They're also better reserved for music that doesn't sound like canon-beholden Mojo bait. Watching the videos Newcombe and friends posted to YouTube to accompany a leak of Underground tracks near the end of 2007-- Newcombe spray-painting corny epithets on hallways, Newcombe wrecking and burning all sorts of crap in a forced pique of Keith Moonian splendor, Newcombe getting the word ISLAND tattooed inside his lower lip-- only exacerbates how silly and self-indulgent his half-assed attempts at artistic martyrdom are, and have been. The myth of the Brian Jonestown Massacre-- a construct that holds weight only with the hopelessly converted-- has always superseded and surpassed the actual work of the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Even now, when that myth is but a shadow of its former glory, that still holds true.

Its a thing from the 60s. BJM were 60s worshippers. "The Man keeping me down" references in the 90s-00s were more like 60s jokes

the 90s "counterculture" was fake and gay and jewish af

RIght now ACTUAL counterculture (anti-ZOG) is stronger than ever, SPECIALLY after 10/7

Read Hegel or Spinoza you uneducated fool
>>
>>131494415
Anti-ZOG can mean two things depending on if its coming from the left or right. The left blames solely Israel and the "elites", the right blames Jews more broadly, so its not exactly what you're implying
>>
>>131494471
leftist antizionism is part of the broader anticolonialism/anti-imperialism thats always been at the core of the left. right wing antizionism is a conspiracy theory to deflect the blame for capitalist actions away from them and towards jews (or whatever other idpol group is next on the chain)
>>
>>131494471

yet the left is actually doing more than the right in fighting them despite not using le supah sekrit buzzwords

the right has become utterly defanged and cucked since October 7 with a few exceptions like Eric Striker,Aarvol, Mike Peinovich, doomernat, Devon Stack, AA, etc. it doesn't matter what fancy buzzwords the right uses, they are carrying water for Jews and serving all their interests thinking they'll get anything out of it. they COMPLETELY pissed away all their political capital and energy, and now have become a clown show and a laughing stock
>>
>>131494682
this. the right's energy is currently being channeled to defend israel out of contrarianism ("but theyre fighting le muslims", "theyre le heckin based" etc) + further techbroligarch consolidation (ai bubble) and expansion of the surveillance state. elon lets them post their edgy memes to make them feel like theyre doing something and thats been enough
>>
>>131483372
It's Jews isn't it
>>
>>131483324
The left sold out, and no the right still isn't an option look at Trump it's fucked. Free thinkers are politically homeless at the moment. As selfish as it sounds best just focus on yourself and your family/friends, politics is a total wash.

back then the democrats were full of young whitebois. Old people and christ keks were always repubs
>>
>>131496450
Trump isn't right. He might as well be left compared to an actual right.
>>
>>131497089
Yeah, but he bamboozled the portion of the masses that could have been genuinely right wing otherwise. They’re still in thrall to him, or at least enough of them are to stall any progress the right can make.

As long as the left is pushing for the same agenda as big corporations, unironically yes. You can't be anti establishment while agreeing with everything they push.
>>
>>131497934
You aren't much of a rebel if you're on the same side as the richest man in the world and the whole zionist apparatus that includes the leader of the free world. But you do you.
