Why the fuck are guitars so expensive these days? I live in a poorfag Eastern "European" shithole so I am priced out by $149 for an instrument but even Americans like Tom Verlaine noted that guitars used to be dirt cheap in the 70s and 80s whereas they're not anymore even though they offshored production to places like Indonesia or Bangladesh

Half the price of a guitar is going to the retailer. If you want the best guitar for the money just buy directly from a Chinese shop owner and hope for the best.
