I ragequit because I can't reach a 10th with 1 hand.
>>
>>131493567
Who cares about that anyway?
>>
>>131493515
... that's it? that's your answer? 'bach'?
>>131493543
same as above
do you guys actually listen to music? don't you have taste, opinions, preferences, at all? just namedropping a composer and a couple works is not being 'into it'
>bach
ah my sides

Where you been, bro?
I put finishing up Jeux d'eau on hold because I got bored and didn't give myself a deadline... I think I just have a couple pages left to learn and then polish.
>>131493567
I feel you, brother. Have you tried playing them with your thumb and ring finger? I can reach larger intervals that way.
I'm really tempted to buy that smaller scale Athena keyboard.
>>131493688
Seems like he cares. I care.
It limits your harmonic possibilities.
>just break them up/roll them
No, that changes how it sounds.
>>
>>131493874
Life comes with limitations, I just can't understand the mentality of not enjoying something because you won't be within the top .1% of people

I'm learning Mozart's Turkish March right now.

It's not about being top 0.1%, it's about having more options at your fingertips.

What about the celesta? The virginal? The clavichord?

i love playing the piano, it is very therapeutic.
>>
what's the most efficient way to learn and internalize chord shapes?
like on guitar you just learn 1 "shape" for a given chord/inversion and it applies everywhere all over the fretboard for any root and it is quite simple
but on piano every major/minor chord feels different on every root note due to the placement of white and black keys and it's hard for me to internalize it
there must be better methods than just brute force practicing shapes or something I don't know
>>
>>131495156
There is no trick; just keep playing and you won't need to think about it.
When I was learning, my piano teacher had me play scales and then end with a I, IV, I, V(7), I chord progression -- and do that through all keys, either chromatically or by the circle of 4ths/5ths.
>>
>>131494935
Agreed
>>
>>131495156
Internalize your scales and the chords will follow. Definitely don't just memorize the hand shapes.

just get speedy
u dont need it anyway in edition you can have the 10th if u compose

fuck it I'll just ask AI if a composition requires more than an octave with one hand and if it does I'll disregard it and curse the composer

I can do it with my left hand without issues, but with my right it's impossible. What mean?
>>
>>131498822
Holy smokes, I just compared my spread out hands and it seems my left one is like a inch or so wider! Is this some genetic disorder, or is it because I'm right handed?
>>
>>131492759
As I actually progress with keyboard, I still find myself using a lot of standard chords like maj7, sus4, add9, etc. and then feel like it's too "boring" even though it sounds fine. Where do you draw the line between jazzier harmony and self-indulgence?
>>
>>131492894
Why, they each have a place
>>
>>131493567
There are world class pianists who can barely reach an 8ve, literally who gives a fuck

>>
>>131495528
This. Piano is optimized for pattern-matching scales, the appropriate chord shapes follow from those.
>>
Does a commercial just intonation keyboard exist?
>>
>>131498822
I'm the same. For me, I'm pretty sure it's because I stretched my left hand over time to be able to play the larger intervals, but never bothered to stretch my right hand that much because large intervals in the right hand isn't nearly as common.
>>131499256
>world class pianists who can barely reach an 8ve,
>minimum 8.8" for those with international acclaim
Next you're going to tell me that there are porn stars with 5" dicks.
>>
>>131502669
The average is 8.2? I thought it was 6. This is very unsettling.
>>
>>131502669
>minimum is just long enough to easily reach a 10th
well would you look at that
>>
>>131502732
I can barley reach a tenth, though the key board I have does have some largish keys.
>>
>>131502699
I understand that feel, my fellow gentleman.
>>131502732
>easily reach a 10th
Nah. My left hand is basically right at 8.8" thumb to pinky (9" going from thumb to ring finger) and there are some 10ths I can't easily play:
E major and B major 10ths are a hair outside my reach. I can play them softly, but there is no way I could drop them quickly in the context of a piece.
D major is right at my limit.
Ab, Bb, Db, Eb 10ths all have me right at the edge of the key with my thumb (top note).
>>
>>131502579
In what key? You can’t tune to “just intonation”, you have to tune to “C just intonation” or “Ab just intonation” or some other specific key.
