For me it's Open Sesame
Kool & The GangSubjects For Further Research [1970s]: Amelodic hitmakers, jazzbos who couldn't improvise, these primal funksters were too funking primal for me in the early '70s, their artistic heyday. Looking back on their various best-ofs, it's apparent that what got them onto (black) radio was arcane rhythms and silly novelty hooks. But the dance floor is obviously the place to figure out such music and I doubt I'll make sense of it unless a DJ sweeps me off my feet.
