Were they even a rock band? With the exception of a few songs like I Wanna Be Your Man, Helter Skelter and a few others they have very few actual guitar-driven rock songs with a heavy beat (I'm not counting songs like Roll Over Beethoven or Money (That's What I Want) as those were covers). I always felt they were more of a white and male version of those Motown girl groups like The Supremes than a proper rock band like The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks etc.
