I am fascinated with distancing from people, psychiatric/psychological disease and uncomfortability, burdens of the world and sliding in and out of delusions and snapping back to reality.So I choose to listen to a lot of niche things, because they appeal to me. I hold no contempt for other things musical that does not appeal or cater to those interests at all, and I listen to anything from the harshest power electronics, to the most creamy pop singers telling stories about these things. Black Metal of the depressive kind (DBM) and screamo really hold the top circulation for me though, and emotional hardcore and emoviolence too.My interests mainly circulate around that, too. When I play guitar I try to "hit the snag" of these things, capturing "desolate feelings" and trying to also capture a "glimmer of hope" in it. Listening to music for pleasure is like choosing to buy a cheeseburger instead of simply eating vegetables. Or buying heroin and xanax, when you could spend that money on LSD. There are standards we have to live by in the patrician scene. There is nothing more plebeian than listening to music for pleasure.
