If Rock came out today every derivative genre since Rock's inception would be developed within 5 years. That is why I respect Hip-Hop, at least it is constantly innovative. Modern Rock sounds like Rock from 20 years ago.

Factually untrue. If rock was that new in 5 years you wouldn't get metal, punk, funk rock, folk rock, industrial, post rock, math, progressive, psychedelic, post punk, surf, doom, stoner, thrash etc. Too many to cover and it would be in waves because there wouldnt be every genre popping up when the other new ones are taking spotlight
