I'd like to see a comparison between her and MJ in inflation-adjusted sales and popularity. TS generates more dollar for dollar income, but MJ blew up to uncontested international stardom in a way that's not possible today.

>>131512253it's a tough comparison. michael had universal appeal (somebody post that webm of that tribe in the middle of the amazon that knows who michael is) whereas taylor appeals exclusively to girls and gays.on the other hand, taylor became massively popular at a time when music had become so diluted that making a superstar was almost impossible. youtube, digital distribution, and the internet in general had brought about a limitless amount of content to consoom. whereas in the 80s you had a handful of record labels that could pump up anybody they wanted and they could compete with a handful of TV stations and arcades for shit people would do for fun.
