Let me preface this by saying im a solid Geese fan especially for 3D country which i praised as rock being back and far from dead a couple years back, but hearing pic related and the new record is Cameron just completely unable to sing emotionally and sound earnest? He forever sounds like a character hes playing and even that character isnt earnestly emotional. He sounds like an autist and not in the good way like some musicians. Im thinking him never struggling in his pampered new york life certainly plays a role in his inauthenticity. And I dont entirely hate his singing, when he goes eccentric or edgy with his yells he can sound great but pic related had none of that and relied entirely on him "bearing his soul." Ive been enjoying MJ Lendermans solo manning fireworks which in its own way is also a bit of forced soul but comparing the two its night and day, Lenderman sounds like a human with sadness creeping through his tone and delivery, Winter sounds like a nepobot that has a massive ego and thinks every line he writes or sings is some deep art rock that'll top the world of indie music. Its weird hearing that try and be emotional. Apparently everyone else thought he killed it on heavy metal and GK and is the personality leading the rock world currently ao I guess im the odd one out, the instrumentals on the album were aight ill give that but its self insistence is very apparent.
