This is... Huh, wow.

Let's have a good old fashioned discussion of the music that immortalized the feels of that fateful day

I was being potty trained
>>
I remember in 2011 when /mu/ got together and had a watch party for the stream of Basinski's Live Performance of the Loops at the Met in NYC for the 10th anniversary. It was pretty emotional
>>
>>131515716
I was coming out of the subway at 5th ave and 23rd street
>>
I was in highschool. We watched the second plane hit live from a TV in the auditorium
>>
Did anyone watch the Basinski documentary that came out a few years ago?

What's your favorite track on this album, released in July 2001? Is it track 11, September?
>>
everyone knows How Deep Is Your Love is the official track of 9/11
>>
>>131511049
heres a thread in the catalog from yesterday talking about how hes a zesty bitch and how the full cover where his subpar meat loaf ass is superimposed onto 9/11 is the perfect imbodiment of his exploitation of a tragedy to hype his boring mid ass loops
>>
>>131515829
that shit is creepy and unnerving

based. mogged.
it was a mass ritual btw and we break the spell by remembering to forget and moving on
>>
Reminder that WB had recorded all these prior to 9/11. They weren't tributes, he just tacked them onto a tragedy to make them seem more interesting.
>>

>>131516073
it's not like he lied about anything.
the joke is really on the retards who bought it, like OP, or pitchfork giving him 10/10
>>
>>131515844

This is people who don't care about music as much as they care about the story. The story is what gets the 10.0 here. If you listen to this and you know anything about music, the backstory is, 'Oh, the ferrous magnetic tape was peeling off the reel....' Dude, it has a fuckin' echo on it! There's a fuckin' post-effected digital reverb on this thing! It might even be, like, an Alesis Wedge. This fuckin' thing is about as natural as a fuckin' Spice Girls song.

But because the person who reviewed it didn't get any of that, and didn't approach it from a critical vantage, and instead bought in to the story and the artistic and societal, y'know, release that they personally felt, because they couldn't interpret it in the terms that I'm talking about, suddenly - because Pitchfork's in the position it's in - everybody buys the story, and everybody buys the legitimacy of The Disintegration Loops.

If I go downstairs right now, and I hold down middle C on my Roland RS-09 string synth for half an hour, and record it into GoldWave, and go to bed, and I get up tomorrow and Iran's dropped a nuclear bomb on Israel, so I go out and I go to fuckin' Getty Images and I get some stock photo of an A-bomb going off, and I put that on the cover of my fuckin' limited-edition fuckin' green vinyl 12-inch that I'm gonna put out, and then, what, I'll write Hebrew on it to make it even more legit? I mean, this kind of fuckin' appropriation and co-option of really tragic, hugely important events in human history for some half-assed process art piece by some, y'know, loft guy?

it's not bad. I'll listen to it. But I can't get over the fuckin' echo pops on it. They're so cheesy! They're just cheesy! It sounds like fuckin' Fisher Price microphone with the echo turned on!
>>
>>131515716
This is literally "Everywhere at the End of Time" but for Millennials
>>
>>131516859
Its normal for things roughly contemporary to get associated with events even if they aren't like "four dead in O-hi-o"
>>
>>131521347
But you won't do it. People like you never do.
>>
>>131515716
if you want cancer go to a yt upload of this and look at the comments

>the music that immortalized the feels of that fateful day
For me it was this song, they were playing it all the time on the radio that 9/11 week, haven't listened to it in years and it really took me back:
