Back in the day, black musicians used to show a lot more virtuosity in their craft, whether it be Bebop, Modal Jazz, Motown or Philly Soul. Hell, even Hip Hop in the 80s and 90s, while a step down from what came before, had much more artistic integrity than the mumbling over an 808 beat you get today.Were those guys back then just in the 99th percentile, or are they now just showing their true colors in a society where White people aren't judging their behavior?

They probably play on your favorite records, you just don't see them because they are studio musicians.There's also significantly less white people in the country, percentage wise. Not a crazy concept that the music landscape changes to fit the largest growing groups of people. Originally the blacks had to wear a suit and play whatever some WASPs named Gertrude and Gladys wanted to hear. Today they are free to make what they want and literally have the same rights as every other American. Point is the great negro music you like only existed because white people wanted to hear it. If they were allowed to spit bars about fucking Gertrude and Gladys back then, without getting lynched, they absolutely would have.
