the sixties and seventies were revolutionary times. it just that they lost the revolution and we all are paying the consequences.
people were experimentative with thought in that time, now we are in a pre-sixties time when thought is more like a machine. (and im not even talking about AI, that is more a consequence)

the key to becoming a proficient musician is slowing down the source material, mastering the intricacies, and then speeding back up
60's and 70's musicians had a handy way to do this. people mostly bought 45's which they could slow down to 33 rpm on their record player.
when album oriented rock took over, no music nerds bought 45's anymore so they couldn't slow down their 33 rpm lp's and learn the intricacies of the music anymore and sloppy playing took over.

You are hearing the result of gatekeeping. Back then, music production was expensive. Only the very rich could afford to self-produce, and they had better things to do. Everybody else had to demonstrate their skill to a record label before they were allowed anywhere near a studio (or just be sufficiently marketable, in which case the label would provide the skill).
