Metal is way easier to write than pop music
>>
>>131536778
that's why theres a lot of it. still doesnt explain why theres so little good metal
>>
>>131536778
but not easier to play. any guitarist can strum coldplay slop.
its basic bitch chord sequence 101
>>
>>131536778
Metal is pop music.
>>
>>131537805
Metal's only hard cause it's fast
And even then it's a lot of just chugging the lowest string you have
>>131537808
You know what I mean you pedantic fuck
>>
>>131537825
Metal is pop music in both meanings of the word.
>>
>>131536778
atrocious bait. here's your (You).
>>
>>131537854
Hell I wish it was still pop music
Have you heard modern metal?
It's fucking awful
>>
>>131537825
metal doesn't have to be fast or hard to play, in fact some of the best stuff is slow
the bar for "metal" is so low it basically just means "a lot of distortion on the guitar amp, and not punk or punk-derived"
>>
>>131537189
it's bad music on purpose, it's more about the community and less about the music's quality
>>
>>131537808
/thread
>>
>>131537906
Still pop, just crap.
>>
>>131536778
it's easier than anything else.
most riffs that sound good in distortion will sound like shit on a synth, for example
>>
Generally yeah.

You are booked to play pop music for a wedding gig, you show up playing any form of metal and you are getting kicked out no matter how much you argue otherwise at the venue. You know this already, imbecile.

I dont care, about how easy it is to write or play, i dont care about how brutal or technical it is either. and i dont care about what non metal normgroid thinks. i just want to hear good riffs.
>>
>>131537906
>Have you heard modern metal?
>It's fucking awful
I know, it's mostly legacy bands pandering to boomer nostalgia and industry plants truing to ape Sleep Token. Just a bunch of Presidents and Panteras out there.
>>
>>131538776
Bands nowadays don't have good riffs
Just LOUD and BRVTAL garbage
>>
>>131538673
You are booked to make a fruit salad for a wedding catering job, you show up putting tomatoes in it and you are getting kicked out no matter how much you argue otherwise in the kitchen. You know this already, imbecile.

You're not an academic, moron, you just have an internet connection
>>
>>131539470
Don't be so hard on yourself, anon.
>>
>>131538673
>the definition of pop music is whatever you can play at a wedding gig
Nice equivocation/non sequitur, kek.
>>
>>131538030
You don't know what you are talking about
>>
>>131536778
unrelated but this and x&y are coldplays only good albums, everything else they made is pop slop
>>
>>131541193
Viva La Vida has arguably a dream pop song on it and Prospekt's March has a song with a 7/4 chorus
>>
>>131536778
Idk, being gay and cringe at all times seems hard a fuck.
>>
>>131541727
>Viva La Vida
All Coldplay did was rip off Joe Satriani’s song if I could fly and got away with it so no, it’s actually pretty damn easy to write a pop song per your example

>sold directly as a standardized commodity (albums, merch, tickets)
There.
>>
>>131541813
if you posted something like DSO, then fine, but cmon. take away the speed and the distortion here, what are you left with?
>>
>>131541760
Joe Satriani is a talentless hack who can't write a single memorable song
>>
>>131536778
>shredding
just call it what it is. scale slop because you can't write a memorable melody
>>
>>131536778
>making music as a 4-piece band vs. music being made for you by 10 producers
Hmm, tough one.
>>
>>131536778
It depends what kind of metal and what kind of pop music. It also depends what you're taking as the difficulty criteria. For example, Pop has a purpose: it's supposed to appeal to a lot of people. In that sense it's more of a product, so you can judge it by how difficult it is to accomplish that goal. But a problem with that analysis is that you can't apply the same metric to metal, as this is not what it sets out to do. So I don't think this is the appropriate criteria for the purpose of this comparison. Instead you could look at how complex the music is. Typically it's harder to perform music that's more complex. You may also need to rely on more musical knowledge to compose it. By that metric I'd say metal does have pop beat. Even though there are very simple metal songs out there and there exist more complex pop songs. I'd say on average metal requires more virtuosity. Another difficulty metric is how much networking you need to do to produce a piece of music. I'd say in those terms pop does have metal beat, as pop music is typically produced with a shit ton of other people other than just the artist whose name goes on the cover. In fact often times the artist only performs the song, while it's written and composed by someone else. This is not true in all cases, but I'd say on average pop music requires far more networking with third parties.
>>
All bad music in all genres is easy to write. Pop and metal are mostly bad
>>
>>131537808
You had to be this retarded attention whore spouting nonsense, huh?
>>131543700
>formally simple and predictable
wrong, any metal partition will always be more complex than 100% of pop music (I listen to both)
>relies on hooks, i.e. formulaic expectations (riffs, blast beats, gutturals)
There literally is no link between using metal codes (guttural, blast beats) and "hooks" and "formulaic expectations".
>conceived for mass distribution to a specific heterogeneous demographic unified by subculture
Ah yes, THIS pop subculture? Who defines as a pop listener? What kind of clothes does a pop listener wear?
Retard.
>not written down, but stored and distributed in non-written form
What the fuck are you even saying? Are you high or skizophrenic? Are you having a dissociation episode?
>sold directly as a standardized commodity (albums, merch, tickets)
What music genre isn't lmao
>There.
He thinks the nailed this. What a retard.
>>
>>131544108
>Pop and metal are mostly bad
Last time I heard someone saying something is especially bad, it was some schizo woke paranoid faggot who thought Melee community and Leffen killed hax$ (this crazy idea comes from a drama whore called Mechanicals, who himself was rejected by Melee community) and started mentioning it with no reason in an unrelated topic.
He wanted a reason to hate a community and a person, even thought playing Melee is just playing a game in the end, no matter what schizo rant you spit.
Saying a whole music genre is bad is stupid and simplistic, especially if you don't justify it.
TL;DR : you're a retard.
>>
>>131544309
>>not written down, but stored and distributed in non-written form
>What the fuck are you even saying?
see maybe there's your problem. you don't understand the point he is trying to make-
>>
>>131544357
>careful cherrypicking
>"you don't understand his nonsense"
What else?
Also how is metal not written down? Last time I checked, my metal songs have lyrics you can find online.
Also answer the rest if you're not a bff (bad faith faggot).

People on that gay board just know nothing about music and don't listen to it, they just wanna express their retarded feelings and call others names because they can't IRL.

>deflects on AI
I accept your concession.
But it doesn't change you're wrong on everything you wrote.
