Do you own any type of physical music? How's your collection?
>>131576634i own about 160 cdsyour metal collection is pretty nice anon
>>131576634I dabble
>>131576634Closing in on 400 CDs. I've collected them for a good chunk of my life. My collection is primarily emo/screamo/post-hardcore but I also collect a few different genres as well. Have a few albums I plan on ordering from my birthday but I'm glad it seems like more people are enjoying CDs these days.
>>131576925I started collecting about 10 years ago, when one retail chain in my country started selling them. I remember, my first three were Apocalyptica - Inquisition Synphony, Megadeth - Greatest Hits Collection and Black Sabbath - 13. I still use digital media, but collecting is the only satisfying way of gathering music.
>>131577067It started in childhood for me because that's just how it was then. I stopped for a bit and then picked it back up because streaming didn't have some albums that I wanted. I feel lucky to have made that conclusion early because a lot of my favorites are impossible to get. I think putting a physical copy on helps me focus more and appreciate the music but that could just be autism, I guess.
>>131577108I get that. When I play it from streaming services I usually treat it as a backround noise. With CD's you can also appreciate the cover art before inserting it.
Other than the occasional mp3 purchase, all my music is on CDs. I offloaded hundreds over the years and I regret that now since pretty soon you won't be able to listen to music except in a lo-quality streaming service.
It's spread all around my house, inconvenient to photograph. 1100 items
>>131577167The art is another plus I obsessed over finding bands that bands I already liked mentioned in the flip book. Are you currently hunting down any grails?
>>131577199I was kind of thinking about buying first albums of Linkin Park. I liked them when I was a kid and it recently came back to me. But from rare finds, I have some albums from smaller bands. Consolamentum, Skon, Vesna, Czort, Okrutnik. This is the thing I'm most proud of. I have a music album by one of the most famous Polish heavy metal bands, with autographs :D
>>131577290Those first two and remix albums by Linkin Park are rad and defined an era. I saw a Xero or whatever their original CD on eBay a year or two ago selling for like 600 bucks? Crazy how much some stuff can be worth but hopefully whoever had 600 to blow enjoys it. And that's badass dude I can't say I know them but that's really cool. Signed stuff is always fun to obtain
i have ~800 cds. my collection is both too small and too large.
>>131577181whats the most expensive piece
>>131576634i've got a healthy collection in most formats, including DAT and minidisc (admittedly, those are almost all self-recorded). have a few hundred vinyl records that i regret spending so much money on as i eventually realized CD is indeed the supreme physical medium
>>131578065Other than lack of ability to seek/scan, CD is objectively better than all. But if you wanted to listen to a chorus or melody over & over again, like in your car, cassette was the best for that.
>>131578026What genres do you primarily collect?>>131577181Also curious about most expensive album
>>131576634>Do you own any type of physical music? You could say that. (1/4)
(2/4)
(3/4)
>>131578322vinyl always looks like a mouse chewed up the spines
>>131576634170+ CDs, 331+ LPs, a few cassettes & DVDsGenre-wise I have a bit of everything, but the bigger collections are stoner/psychedelic/doom rock/metal, shoegaze, jazz, indie, prog rock, post-rock & electronic music.
>>131578322>>131578330>>131578350>>131578368i cant fucking read any of these titles
>>131578419I live in a thrift-heavy area. A majority of my collection is second hand.
>>131578447How long did it take you to type all that in?
>>131578457Well if I took a picture of every cubby that'd be 29 and I didn't wanna spam. If you pick a cubby at random I can post it.
>>131576634Yeah about 5,000 CDRs of your mom moaning
>>131576634got quite a large collection by now and have been focusing on vinyl recently. mostly just classics and a couple of favourites - am at over 2600 CDs and 700 LPs at this point
>>131578289>What genres do you primarily collect?mostly metal and jazz
>>131576634>2004 Megadeth remixes
I have more but they’re in my car
>>131578034>>131578289An original press of Brotzmann's Machine Gun from 1968. That's something like $1000 today
>>131576634I've got Vinyl, CDs, 8-Track and cassette
over 150 vinyl's, wish I never got into it. Easily spent over 3k in equipment (pre-amps, speakers, turntable, equilizers) great hobby, and i've been vindicated with artists like GY!BE taking their stuff of streaming.
200 CDs with a few vinyls and cassettes mixed in. I collect randomly.
>>131576750>a Freddie King box setholy based
>>131577290get off this board, you have no taste
